If it had happened in Alabama, BOTH would have been put in jail already.

I have a feeling if the drunk had been wearing a Bama cap, many on this board currently howling with moral outrage would be saying, "Hey, what do you expect when you pass out on Bourbon St?"

Well I would have the same feeling regardless of what colors he was wearing. Someone, anyone, should have stopped that and had I been there I can safely say, with no bravado intended, that I would have stopped it. This is what our society has come too and it is time people step back and look at these issues and actions. The others in the video are just as guilty as the little dick guy because they let it happen. Someone pointed out mob mentality and that's about right.

Worry not , fans. This guy has it coming...unfortunately, he'll be awake when his OPP cell mate, Big Mo, goes in for the tea bag. I think this may be one of those Karma moments.

As an avid Tide fan, I would like to apologize to the entire Tiger nation for the actions of these "So Called" Tide fans. Be it known that the people in this video are not TRUE TIDE fans. TRUE TIDE fans have CLASS. We win with CLASS and LOSE with CLASS. I truly hope the idiots are identified and prosecuted. I have several Tigers fans as friends. We talk a lot of trash but show respect for the game and our fan base.

While this is very nice of you to post, I have to disagree.

This isn't the first thread on this topic, and plenty of other Bama fans have let it be known this action "was no big deal".

I went to the game last week and I have to say: It was quite the learning experience.

I know, you can't extrapolate what I saw to hundreds of thousands of Bama fans across the world, but the ones that made the trek to Nola were quite despicable. I witnessed things that literally made me feel like I was in the twilight zone. Bama fans from the ages of 18-65 saying and doing things that made me cringe. One common theme I noticed was none of the other supposed "classy" Bama fans you speak of would step in to stop it. Like this incident, they stood there, cheered it on, and took pictures.

Yes, I've seen LSU fans do stupid things. Hell, I stopped a few in NOLA from doing stupid things. However, I'd venture to guess nearly half the Bama fan base that made the trip would be perfectly fine with what happened on this video.

Also, is the "middle finger to the face" something that is passed from generation to generation? If I had a dollar for every time I witnessed this action, I could pay my mortgage this month.

Damn, I just violated my own thread rules.

Oh well.

I did not grow up in Alabama or Louisiana and my first exposure to Bama fans was at the 1973 Sugar Bowl. I noticed then a large portion of their fans are pure trash. Nothing has happened in the past four decades to change my mind.

Although few and far between there are some classy Bama fans just as LSU has some bad apples. But the people in the tea bag video obviously are not t-shirt alumni. They appear to be from at least upper middle class families.

Thank you, Bama, thank you. From poisoning iconic oak trees to committing homosexual assault you have made the very worst of the LSU fan base look like the Vienna Boys Choir.

I have a feeling that is the reasoning of a child. I can tell you plainly that if he was an LSU fan doing something so sick to a Bama fan I would be more outraged and disgusted that it might be misconstrued that he represented me or my school and his actions were excused by my fan base in any way shape or form. So NO Arlo, if anything I would be personally more vocal in my disgust and distance to such a filthy act.

This was the part that made me feel like I was in the twilight zone. It wasn't like these individuals were the stereotypical redneck: sleeveless t-shirt, mullet, toothless and heavy accent. No, these were people who you could not differenciate from anyone else in a corporate environment if no one had on school colors.

Another fascinating thing to me were the women. They would sit there and literally encourage the behavior by laughing about it. Actions my wife would be humiliated over, these women would laugh or take pictures. Again, I'm not talking about college-aged kids in this video either. I'm talking 30 and over. And I also witnessed "parents" doing things in front of their kids as well. It really amazed me.

Honestly, I'm glad I experienced it. Put a lot of things in perspective.

I also saw Updike on more than one occasion. Every time we passed him, he was being treated like a hero. Autographs and pictures. Also heard one Bama fan gladly saying someone paid for Updike's tickets and hotel for the weekend. I wonder if this is true.

I feel the same way. It wouldn't take any bravado though. Just tell the police, who were apparently closeby. I would be careful about wading into a bunch of drunks. Alcohol strips the thin venier of humanity and reveals the raw animal underneath.

Yep. That's what it was.

Wait a second. Maybe I made a mistake by painting all LSU fans with a broad brush? Could that be?

Yes you did. Trash is trash regardless and it knows no lines on a map.

The kid passed out needs to step back and take stock into where his future lies. Rehab should be considered.

This is the part that gets me.

I've witnessed many LSU fans doing stupid things or saying stupid things to other fans in different environments, whether it was a football, basketball or baseball game.

In EVERY occasion, either myself or some other LSU fan would intervene. Almost every time, the "victim" would be taken to a tailgate when it was over, apologized to profusely, and everyone would attempt to make up for the actions of the idiot by feeding and loading down the fan with free alcohol. Almost every occasion, said idiot who committed the act was a student or fan ages 18-25.

Hell, I've gotten into it with fellow LSU fans who trashed campus after sporting events.

Hardly. I doubt there would have been 1/10th the threads about it on this board.

Same here, except I don't tie myself tribally to every swinging dick who has a Bama shirt on.

All involved should take a step back and evaluate if they have a problem. If alcohol releases that inner a-hole, do you really think you need to continue down that path?

I didn't go to the game, but was in NOLA for the weekend and tailgated on Monday. I agree with your assessment. Upper middle class kids and families acting like vindictive, vengeful high schoolers at their first party with alcohol.

Wax it poetic, but the fact of the matter is that alcohol does nothing but reveal the true intentions and sickness in a person that is already there but released by stripping away inhibitions. It simply removes the governor if you will.

Never in my life, and I've been hammered drunk at LSU games plenty, have I ever thought it might be funny to pull by sack out and rub it on another person. Nor did I think it would be interesting to hump their head with my junk. NO, drunk or sober, it's never crossed my mind. The problem here with both the t-bagger as well as those who thought it was funny, or those who refused to step in and break that filth up is that deep down inside there is something wrong with them. THAT'S what's going on. The alcohol simply reveals what's really going on in them.

quote:

It wouldn't take any bravado though.

It has nothing to do with bravado, and everything to do with being a grown up. The victim is getting sexually assaulted. I, as a bystander, am walking by and witness a sexual assault taking place, and am a grown up human being. It is my duty, regardless of what color a person is wearing, to step in and break up what I know is filth and an assault on another human being wearing the other color.

Truth is, we are talking about a game with teenagers running around on grass playing keep away with a funny shaped ball made of pig skin, and a bunch of people rooting for their favorite teenagers to come out victorious. THAT'S IT IN A NUTSHELL. The bigger issue here is our conduct. That's what we as fans CAN control, not which group of teenagers come out victorious, but our own actions or non actions. I see stuff like this as nothing more than a break down in society, and for people regardless of the color they sport to do nothing to break it up but rather sit there and laugh at it demonstrates just how screwed up much of our society has become.

From both fanbases, right? Were all the LSU fans choirboys?
