I'm glad we ran the football good today. I hope it gets even better.

I was thinking the same thing... if you think about the fact that our offense last year only had 40-50 offensive snaps a game... which I'd rather not , then that's like 1.3 sacks a game. On a serious note, I'm not trying to be silly or twist the numbers to defend anybody; but it really doesn't sound too bad.

What I would be curious to know is how many snaps each QB got, whether they were running against 1st or 2nd team defense (and who got credit for the sacks), and how many times each QB was sacked. Last year, the o-line was porous, but Jefferson holding the ball too long was as much the issue with sacks as anything. If JJ, Lee and Garrett all took approx 35 to 40 snaps and JJ was sacked all four times-- then there might be a problem. If not, then any number of factors may be more important.

Gave up 4 sacks to d-linemen today... not a great start

In a 130 plays that's not so bad.

all the reports i've been hearing is how much better jefferson has been lately.

a mediocre scrimmage from him is the least of my worries

is the O-line going to be able to play hard this year and make for a running game?

THAT's what concerns me.

sounds like they are

What does the 4 sacks say about the O-line or D-line? I think most would agree that both werent very good last year, and the fact that one might look good against the other means nothing to me, so I'll wait until we line up against UNC to find out.

4 sacks in the scrimmage means your QB was touched 4 times. That's not bad at all.

no, it's pretty clear...

o-line gave up 4 sacks = unacceptable
d-line only got 4 sacks in 130 snaps = unacceptable

That is when the 'sacks' are by touch only, not tackling.

Have to remember the green jerseys.

His language is northern nurtured, mid-west and southern influenced coach-speak, it's actually very cool.

But what he says and how he says it is irrelevant; 51-14, 4-1 Bowls, 2-0 BCS and 1-0 in BCSNC is relevant.

You don't notice anything weird here?

How we were very good around the time Nick Saban left?

And now how we appear to be tailing off a bit?

Am I missing the big picture here?

We were very good in 2005, 2006, 2007, and I think we all expected a poor season in 2008 due to having no QB. 2009, shoulda coulda woulda.

I think you should wait before bitching. So yes, you're missing the big picture here. If we suck arse in 2010.. legit criticism, until then.. not so much.

Been at a baseball game, so just getting back to this. I really like Les-the way he puts things crack me up. I have a chance to hear him regularly, away from the press, including occasional chats when our boys are playing ball, and he is nothing like the buffoon many people make him out to be. He is very well spoken and has a great sense of humor. It's just that he puts things in a way that are funny. I wish he would have canned Crowton, but I like our head coach just fine.

So lighten up Francis.

2005, 2006 = Jimbo and Pelini
2007 = Pelini and Crowton with a 5th year senior QB who Jimbo developed for 4 years
2008 = Freshmen QB + Co - DC's
2009 = Freshmen QB + new blocking schemes that totally failed.
2010 = Best recruiting class we have had since Les has been here being sophomores and RS freshmen and a lot of them getting to play meaningful minutes + the first returning starting QB since 2006.

Jefferson under 50% passing, only 80+ yard passing with 21 attempts, no TDs and he was sacked 4 times. Sounds like another year of an atrocious offense. But hey, let's blame the wind, maybe it won't blow on gamedays in the fall.

or how 'bout we take the outcome of one SCRIMMAGE and correlate that to how the next season is going to turn out. That makes much more sense.

I have a question, why are there more Jordan Jefferson haters than Jarrett Lee haters? It's good to hear Michael Ford is starting to turn some heads and get some attention. I think he is the best back on the LSU roster. Also 8 touches for Shep in the scrimmage(5 car, 3 rec) sounds good, you can almost guarantee he will be getting 10+ a game not including special teams.
