Go back and watch the Kick Off team against Auburn last year ... there may not have been "bounties", but those guys were competing to see who could get the biggest hit (Landry won in a landslide

I believe most are loosing perspective on this. It WAS NOT a Bounty. I know the name "Bounty Gate" is catchy, but this was a POOL. These guys put in their own money. Neither the Saints, Benson, Loomis, nor Peyton PAID anyone to do this. (I left Williams out because apparently he anted up).
If this was going on a college institution, it would be far more serious because it would then be an actual Bounty. Assuming that players don't have that kind of money to put in themselves, would mean someone else was dolling it out.

To bad Saban's players didn't knock JJ out of the game at the start. We probably would have won the NC! I think JL or Mett would have done a much better job. I don't think we would have been dominated like we were.
