Seems like an easy decision right?

I thought he looked better than anyone else so far.

Correct. Easy decision. We can put it to bed and move on. Bech will be the punt returner.

The first punt returner to not screw up in a game. Polian upgraded to F+ performance on the season.

I’d like to see what Boutte could do with it too, but Bech looked great.

Bech might be the smartest player on the field, so yes he needs to be returning punts.

My question is why did they have a walk on receiving punts before bech.

It seems like they were trying to use reserves and a few walk-ons on ST to prevent injuries at our thinner positions. We usually play a lot of backup LBs and Safeties there and neither of those spots is overflowing with depth. Same situation with TEs.
That said, they need to put the right guys out there regardless. You don’t win in the SEC playing it ultra safe.

This was a trend about 3 years ago where more and more teams decided to give up the explosive potential for a homerun from a 4.3 guy to just have a steady and cerebral white boy (usually a slot wr) with sure hands fielding it and preserving field position. I agree with that approach as Bech should be that guy from here on out, especially getting ready for the heart of SEC play.

I do miss the days where we trusted our best players (Peterson, Matthieu, Claiborne, etc) to return punts and kicks. Boutte should be put there to get him touches and let him create.

I didn’t need to see the return, just the way he fields them is better.

Last week on here he was the 5th wr bc he wasn’t as good as the rest.
Needed to be on sideline

I wish he was the choice against Florida State.

He reminds me a lot of Chad Jones back there based on size.
