Oh no I get it....
you are totally out of it for not wanting to call you names as I should, if you really think that people should call in sick, cancel their schedules, etc so they can go to every BBall game.

How do you that many of the people absent had not been to other games ?
Please furnish proof.

I'm not saying that. What I'm saying is, if we were playing well, a lot more people would be doing it. Similar to how they do it for a Thursday night football game in Starkville or take days off to go to Omaha or whatever for baseball... I don't think what I'm saying is that difficult to understand.

Look, you can not alter HUMAN BEHAVIOR.
you will not get rid or gambling, prostitution, etc.
People will do what they want to do.
There are certain stimulus that work, WINNING is one of them.

If a merchant's merchandise in their store is not appealing, people will not go to that store.. it is that simple. You want things to happen that are against Human Nature, it will not happen.

and of course, more people would make the extra effort if they were winning.. once again, NORMAL

so you would agree that its a bandwagon mentality to only support a team when they are winning?

you want to label it something negative to serve your purpose.. bandwagon.

There are people who are die hard BBall fans and will go to see any BBall game, others are not.

"Bandwagon" mentality is a normal human reaction to winning. whe3ther it is a Sport, a school, or even just being around an individual that has success... people will be driven to it.
it is not a negative, it is a behavior pattern.

as I said, Winning Cures All.

obviously... trust me. I'm not happy with the direction of this program. I do feel like however a little more fan support would go a long way.

would it help, yes,
but you get the results of your efforts.

support is earned...specially the longer the season goes on

A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY THAT KY SUPPORTS THEIR BASKETBALL TEAM NO MATTER WHAT...NOT TRUE, THEY JUST HAVE NOT HAD A FEW LOSING SEASONS IN SUCCESSION.
IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN, THEIR ATTENDANCE WOULD DROP.
OOPS ! CAPS.

Considering that LSU was only given thirty tickets for students to get and that ticket prices from stubhub were starting at 90.00 of course attendance is low. 3-0 fricking tickets. If the SEC doesn't take student attendance seriously how can it's fans.

He's right.

Weak arse fan base spoiled and dont deserve a young talented team in rebuilding mode.

Pitiful minded fan base of that team.

I don't blame him one bit, and to those saying that they need to win more to get more fans there it only means we're all fair weather fans and in no way loyal.

When your basketball program is your "flagship" program, it's a basketball school. Kansas, Kentucky, UNC. In the deep south though, football is king and always will be. Average basketball programs will be met with average fan support. A basketball school has a supportive fan base.

this is the most concise, exact, level headed statement in this entire monstrosity of a fricking thread....

for those that say to be a "superfan" of LSU you have to be at every sporting event, regardless of your economic means, you have to pump sunshine, regardless of the state of the program, etc, it's time to grow up..... if your self-worth and self-esteem is that fragile that you have to validate yourself by measuring your fandom in relation to that of another, grow the hell up.....

good for you..... you are OT rich enough that you can bankroll suporting LSU in every single sport, even if the return on your investment sucks.... but labeling someone else because it makes you feel better about your sorry arse existance, well, makes me sad for you.....

I think what most are trying to convey in this thread is that if LSU were good people would find a way to get out of work and other responsibilities to catch a ball game. Someone said its not worth it when LSU is probably going to lose. Others are replying to that saying its bandwagon.

It's not bandwagon. It isn't like we are switching our favorite team. We just don't feel like we are going to be adequately entertained paying for a ticket for a lousy product.

It really is no different than the reason you don't go to LSU gymnastics meets. It has nothing to do with only wanting to root for a team with a good record. It just isn't fun for most to watch. It just so happens that lousy basketball isn't fun to watch and some of us have lives outside of LSU sports.

exactly..... his definition of bandwagon and that of most rational, intelligent people is very, very different....

again, exactly..... same reason that guys don't go to chick flicks or foreign films.... why pay the money to not be entertained? just to waste the money? in today's world, you have to the most bang for your buck, and right now, LSU basketball, no matter how you slice it, it's not a good return on investment..... it'd be the exact same way in football, but to a lesser degree, if we started to slide and not compete for championships, trust me.... the difference is that in LA, football is the favored sport vs. basketball, so the drop off wouldn't be nearly as noticeable, but it'd be certain, i can tell you that....
