Rizy threw 23 pitches and only 11 were strikes. He was very fortunate to get out of trouble last night. He was all over the place.

people say this about basically every struggling pitcher we have that throws hard. It's like they've seen that term used and try to insert it in an argument to sound smart. Schmidt's "stuff" in all his pitches is fine. He's just not throwing strikes right now or commanding his pitches. When he gets behind hitters in almost every at bat, he starts leaving pitches over the middle of the plate that get hit. The same thing is happening with Shores, and I hear the same things that his fastball is flat when it's not.
