We have no control over it, and hopefully CG and Zach Lee will be that elite QB. It's just a football game man. I love LSU, but seriously why get this mad if you have zero control.

ever stop to think that these guys aren't receiving adequate coaching to succeed at this level? I highly doubt that Lee and Jefferson both just happen to be busts.

takes a qb at least a year of playing time to fully develop in the sec, sometimes two. it's easy for young qbs to develope in the big 12 where they don't even know what defense is.

just look at matt stafford, and how horrible he was in his first year as a starter. tim's team lost 4 games in his first year, and he won a heisman but with his running mostly.

now the fear before the season is what is happening now, you have a kid that's trying to grow and get better, gets hurt, another kid comes in and plays one good half of football in 2 and a half games and you jump on him, now neither is developed to where they need to be.

Exactly.

Lee and Jefferson both have more talent than Mauck or Flynn, but have not been coached up to match their ability.

Texas spring game was televised yesterday on Fox sports southwest.

It was really astonishing the difference between Texas's spring game and LSU's.

Texas's receivers caught the balls, the qb looked very good.

Also the level of organization of the game, it was clear the coaching staff was organized and knew exactly what they wanted to do with the game.

Just did not see all of the disorganization I saw with our game.

On the other hand, the stands were almost empty, so I guess there fans suck as bad as ours. Ha

Of all the b*tching Texas fans do, one thing we can't complain about with Mack and Greg Davis is the ability to recruit and coach QB's.

Gilbert looks to have McCoy's head with Chris Simms' arm. There are 3 soph/FR on campus most programs would love to have. If only we could trade y'all one of them for a couple of run-blocking OL and a 1,000 yard RB.

I'm going to say that Flynn is way better than these guys. Especially at the mental side of the game.

Lee had a Texas Tech offer, but they were supposed to be "system qb's". JJ lit up Louisiana and although I really want him to succeed for us he is not better than Flynn.

Both of these guys can be compared to Marcus Randall.

Flynn had a real QB coach for 4 years before Crowton. These guys haven't...

Maybe they just don't have it.

Jefferson and Lee just do not get it. I am no fan of Crowton's offense, but after watching both play I'm convinced that neither one has that overstated it factor. Lee is streaky as hell and loses it when he shouldn't and Jefferson can not read a defense for shite. I don't know why we haven't been able to recruit a QB but that I do agree is on Miles and Crowton.

Well the coaching they are getting is going to make sure we dont get a top leval QB in the future as well.

Would you want your 4 or 5 star QB son playing for Miles? I wouldnt..

Profound and right! This is fact. And JJ and JL's performance prove what you say to be true.

Anybody who wants to blame RP's departure or "they were young" for the QB mess at LSU is refusing to look at the reality of JJ's and JL's situation at LSU. Both have good enough talent to be outstanding QBs at LSU. Both have a stable full of good receivers to help them look good. But neither have had the benefit of a real QB coach to help them with the mental and skill parts of their game.

So look at this as another hole in the Swiss cheese that is the LSU coaching staff today.

JL and JJ are just now juniors.

You dont want any learning curve. If you knew that everything in 2010 would be building to a national champ year in 2011, would you allow Lee and JJ AND Garrett to play with full fan support?
No. You want it all, and right now.

The bottom line here is that other schools have found recruits who have had very successful seasons as young, inexperienced players. McCoy and Bradford are the two most obvious in recent years. Oh yeah, that guy named Tebow as well. LSU needs to stop making excuses that we're not playing well because we have young, inexperienced guys. Those recruits are out there who can step up and get it done. It's time for LSU to go out there, analyze and get the right guys into our program who can contribute right away if need be.

Then maybe we need better judges of QB potential. I went to many of Andrew Luck's, Matthew Stafford's, and Garret Gilbert's high school games. There was no doubt how good they were. I also went to Ryan Perriloux's high school games. There was also no doubt.

Why did you go to these games?

Thanks CharlesLSU. I also started a similar thread in the recruiting forum and got bashed for posting a thread in the recruiting forum talking about bringing in the right recruits. People keep pointing to the fact that we won NC's with average QB's like Mauck and Flynn. Great, we did do it!! BUT why in the world wouldn't we focus on getting the best guys out there who we could crush the competition with? I would love for LSU to do what Florida did in 08 with Tebow and just crush the competition. Our lack of getting that guy has really cost us the last couple of years. We should have them lined up if we're recruiting top 10 classes nearly every year. Before I get bashed, I'm sure LSU thought they were getting some quality guys but it hasn't turned out that way for some years now. Time to step it up; get the right evaluation about the recruits and get the right guys!
