Has the LSU running back position historically been the most consistently excellent position of the entire football program?

Looking back in modern history, who was the last less-than-spectacular starting running for the team? I'm having trouble actually remembering. Was Robert Toomer the starting running back at any point in the early '90s?

Any class under Miles is an embarrassment of riches.....
Too much talent came through with the lack of development. We are the University of Texas of the SEC. Tons of raw talent when they come to LSU leave, and become NFL Studs!

UT has losing seasons in a shite conference. Wtf are you smoking? Plus, if you were a RB, why wouldn't you want to play at LSU?

Richard Murphy started a few games

Shyrone Carey was less than spectacular but I loved that little dude. Tree trunk legs I tell ya.

And nobody has mentioned IMO our most talented back before LF7. Cecil "hide yo kids hide yo wife" Collins. What a waste of talent, dude could have been an all time great.

People sometimes forget that Josh Reed was a RB his first couple of seasons at LSU until Saban moved him to receiver. Guess that's what happens when you have Davis, and Toefield in front of you.

Also loved watching Tommy Banks blow up Florida in 96.

Michael Ford and Keiland Willians probably the weakest.

I wouldn't consider him a lack of talent, just couldn't stay healthy.

I don't know that I'd considered them starters.
