I HOPE you are correct.... and I could see that happening.... but on the other hand... if Trent rips off an 85 yard run on the first play from scrimage, I will not lose faith in LSU.... (see OSU in BCS game 2007)...
BOTH teams tend to score points in bunches... happens nearly every week.
Ole Miss was in the game with Bama mid way through the 3rd quarer.... then got blown out.
Tennssee was tied 6 - 6 at half, then got blown out.
The "MO" of both teams is almost the same.... play 4 full quarters and by the end of the 3rd quarter the superior depth and talent wear the opponent out and it's a landslide.
That is NOT going to happen in this game IMO.... both teams are going to be in it until the end.
With both defenses getting all the hype and being ranked so highly... my "hunch" is that this goes against "traditional" thinking and a lot of points are scored... I wouldn't bet the house on it... but I'd lay a $20 on it for the "over" regardless of what "the number" is.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think the 1st Qtr will start off very conservatively with both teams getting a feel for one another. Both teams may take a shot deep early in the game, but if that fails, I can see Les content to play the field position battle with Wing. I think our biggest strength this year has been our ability to protect the ball on offense and create turnovers on defense. TR will be a load and I do think he'll get his yards, but we can't let him break any big runs (similar to Oregon game where the D didn't give up any big plays).
The only way I think this becomes a high scoring game is if there are multiple turnovers and one of the teams lose their composure.
I am a bit concerned that we've only been behind for 6 minutes of the season, but if we do fall behind, it will really get the crowd going, and make it very difficult for us to check plays at the LOS. Checking plays and recognizing defenses is the single biggest improvement I've seen with our 2 Sr. QBs this year.
I am already so pumped for this game it's ridiculous. It's going to be a fun next 2 weeks!

Not sure I agree with this on the offensive side of the ball. First quarter and half LSU didn't look too great against Tennessee. And at the beginning same goes with Auburn. They did eventually hit their stride but when going against Bama there can be no slow start.

I disagree with this observation. LSU's two QB's have both had to make game winning plays in tough environments before. A.J. McCarron has not faced a pressure situation in which the outcome of a game has depended on him to make plays. If LSU can turn this into a contest in which the QB's have to make plays, then I like LSU's chances.

Something tells me Saban is going to try to pull a Miles on Miles. I have a sneaking feeling that if the right situation arises, that fake punt they called against Penn State will make an appearance, as will the wildcat they used against Florida. If there's one thing about Saban more true about his conservative philosophy, it's that he's got an ego the size of Bryant-Denny. I think revenge is going to play a role.

I agree completely. I think Saban knows his MO is to be more conservative in Big games and let his D win a close one. However, he does have a huge ego, so he may try to pull a Miles on Miles. The bigger question is does he have the
guts to get 2nd guessed by the media and Gumps if his trick plays fail and it costs a turnover or the game? I don't think he does.
Another thing I've loved about Les is he really doesn't give a shite was anybody thinks, and that allows him to be so successful with the trick plays because it always catches the other team off guard.
You know Saban has been stewing for a year on that 4th down reverse to DeAngelo Peterson that wrapped up the game last year.

How do you come up with this? I've got one loss in the Independance Bowl at Michigan State and two current losses at Bama. Another loss makes him 2 - 4 vs. LSU.
What am I missing?

I say LSU wants it just a little more than Bama. Miles hasn't won any titles in 3 years. Saban has won 2 of the last 3 West Titles. Miles and company are a little more desperate and frankly need this game. It would be pretty embarrassing losing to Bama and being shut out of Atlanta 4 years while Bama goes 3 of 4 times. Failure is a great motivator. I say Bama is just a little too satisfied and LSU is hungry.

Bama has a one-back offense. They don't have a true FB. Smelley is their H-back which is a TE/FB hybrid but don't have traditional FB.
