We sure as hell don't need a Dennis Erickson type head coach.

Yeah, I know.

As for family, pretty much status quo right now. Just trying to keep my eye on the hurricane in DC in hopes it dissipates in Nov.

HB has a special place in so many people's hearts

quote:

Put a microphone in his face and Mathieu tenses. He fidgets and avoids eye contact, leaving thoughts unfinished and sentences incomplete. He speaks in a muted monotone. Stops, starts, stutters. The most visible player in college football, a spotlight-hogging iconoclast, works hard to reveal little.

It's a contradiction, but hardly the only one for the LSU cornerback. Duality, for Mathieu, is definition. He's overrated...yet underappreciated. He's cocky...but riddled with self-doubt. He's too small ... and proof that size matters little. He's the most important player in the SEC ... but not even the best cornerback on his own team. He's a reckless gambler whose lack of discipline hurts his team ... and a game-changing playmaker his team could not live without. He's a T-shirt-slogan-ready national brand ... and a young man struggling for identity. He might not be the game's best player. But he is fodder for its best debate: Is Mathieu worthy of all the attention?

There is no alternative. His swag was borderline thug. Some people may feel it was just a matter of time. He was given plenty of chances. Can't play with fire like that. Nip it in the bud at the begining of fall camp, regroup and move on

What's sad about that article is that it was written for the ESPN Magazine College Football Preview, before they knew Tyrann was going to get the boot.

The same preview that had the cover with the LSU, Bama, UGA voodoo dolls titled "Curse the SEC" and it's contents basically asking USC to win the title this season. I'm not one to whole-heartedly buy into the ESPN conspiracy theories but there was a clear agenda for that magazine going into this season.

he fricked up. he's paying the consequences. dearly. he lost millions. he's lost playing for a national title contender. in the long run, LSU is probably better off without him. he was becoming a cancer.

It's not a conspiracy, ESPN runs college football now.

And I hate to see this happen to a guy with so much talent and heart.

We all due, but this is what happens when a player decides that he doesn't have to follow the rules, gets punished, decides he still doesn't have to follow the rules, gets punished again, still is not willing to follow the rules, and has to be punished again.

Just plain dumb or arrogant or both.

Its over...time to move on with the players who made decisions to follow the rules.

I thought it was an Athletic Dept policy that on third offense you are kicked from team and lose scholly. This is what happened to Tyrann. I don't think he was kicked out of the university. I have seen no reports that says he was.

I think it is safe to say that Honey Badger played life like he played football. Except unfortunately he is the one who fumbled the football.

He is an addict. Didn't matter how many chances you gave him he was going to keep smoking. He knew it was bad, but like an alcoholic he was going to keep doing it. LSU reached a point where they had to say "Enough is enough."

If it was just weed, I would think Les would give him a little more rope than others. I would've been fine with a few games suspension. We gave Perrilloux more chances for sure. I mean frick, Jefferson was arrested and convicted for battery and only received a 4 game suspension.

If there was something greater that happened, then I understand.

I tend to think his problems are beyond weed.

Cocaine and Heroin usage have been mentioned as possibilities..

These are addictive drugs....Is weed addictive? I have no idea..

speculation all the way around

This is like mandatory sentencing in legal system.
You get more than one chance but if you become a repeat offender then you get the boot. If we don't like the rule ie pot not big deal then we need to change the rules. I agree if we checked all the players in college football for pot usage probably would find high percentage of users. If we tested for alcohol usage would be extremely high but alcohol is legal that is if you not driving and not under age.
With the quality play and ability of TM7 i am sure the coaches gave him every opportunity to comply. Since he didn't i think Miles had no other choice.
