I also posted this in another thread.
What's lost in the debate is that he had an NIL Agreement with LSU for 180 days after he left. He didn’t have to agree to that, but he did. Without further information, it could have been part of the agreement, implied or not, regarding use of his Jersey.
Let's not pretend that LSU didn't benefit from that agreement, so it wasn't one-sided.
If that is the case, LSU may not have upheld that part of the agreement. He has not asked for anything except for LSU to cease and desist from the Agreement he signed.
I've heard plenty say kids should be held accountable to the NIL deals they sign when transferring, etc. But now, some have a problem with Jayden trying to enforce his NIL agreement?
Some say it looks bad when a school sues a kid over NIL. Now it looks bad when a player sues a school over an NIL agreement?
So there should be no agreement because no one should ever try to enforce it?
It's unfortunate that it came to this for everyone involved. I hope it gets resolved without any further issues.

You're kind of missing the point. LSU didn't breach any agreement nor did Jayden. This isn't about breach of contract. He is mad and wants to have his NIL removed. The difference his pictures, highlights, trophies, etc. are historical and are not owned by his NIL. His jersey with his last name in an LSU uniform that were on sale in stores or online will have to be removed because that he does own. But thats it. He got bad advice he cannot control what LSU shows of him because its historical and not a direct $ generator. He can't have them (being LSU) remove any of that. The only way LSU does if it chooses to do so to be petty.
As Project posted he wants them to post as much of his content as possible while avoiding a commercialization because they cannot force LSU to stop.

Jayden looks like a fool. Even LSU’s most ardent haters agree he looks like a gerber baby doing this to the school.

I mean legally seems like he has every right to remove his NIL from LSU. But it’s just kinda a weird move. Especially since he obviously cares how he’s viewed at LSU.
So now this means he won’t have his jersey retired in the stadium, or a statue built, or be recognized during a game..etc.
Just feels like a childish move from someone who should have a lot bigger things to focus on atm

Wouldn’t any NIL of him at LSU belong to LSU at this point? If they want to show posters and video of him in an LSU uniform, wouldn’t they be able to?

I think it’s understandable for him to feel slighted or disrespected. This feels way too reactionary though. The 180 day period is long passed and now his team issues the c&d following the number he wore being issued to another player. I don’t see what he stood to gain by bringing this issue to the public? All happening in the middle of NFL training camp, three years into a hopefully long pro career. It just feels to me he got some bad advice on this.

Yes, I do. They must still be using it after 180 days (6 months) if he sent a cease-and-desist letter, right?
NIL is always yours. Not just when you are at the school. So, to continue, it's not just money; other things can be negotiated.

No I'm not. NIL is an agreement. It’s a contract. There was 100% an agreement with LSU and JD. As I said, NIL is his for life, not just when he’s a student.
If you aren’t an athlete and someone used your likeness, image, or name to support ANY cause you didn’t support or want it to be used for, would you be OK with that?
It’s not about his support for LSU. The whole point of NIL is that athletes, like everyone else, can have a say in who, how, and under what circumstances their NIL can be used and be compensated. Compensation can take ANY form acceptable to them.
He may take less money if LSU agrees to something regarding his jersey or Number. DK the specifics. But obviously he feels like the agreement wasn’t held in some form. That is right, just like it’s the right of the school to sue Athletes when they feel they didn’t uphold a part of their agreement.

Dude you're missing the boat. Yes NIL is contract. No there is no breach of contract. Stop trying to make baseless claims and go read the attorney who dissected the letter. This is NOT about LSU not living up to the agreement nor about Jayden not being paid. He has no basis to claim the number. Only a jersey with his name on it. That is it.
