I could be wrong but I have seen the wife and best friend from LA thing about Dixon on multiple sites (all LSU though) even when it seemed like he was a no go candidate...

I don't know much about him. What are his strengths?
He's been a consistent winner in the most difficult basketball conference during his entire tenure.
Many have labeled him as a choke artist come tournament time, but given our set of circumstances, making the tournament nine straight years with several sweet sixteen berths and one elite eight berth would be outstanding, choke artist or not.
He's known for his ability to develop big men. They always manhandle people on the boards and in the post.
They've actually had some solid guard play over the years too.
He's not an ace recruiter, but he gets the job done. He'll sprinkle in McDonald's All-Americans with some under-the-radar recruits.
He's not a run-and-gun type on offense. Expect games to be played in the half-court.
He's just been so solid for such a long time at Pitt that we couldn't do much better. He's not one of the top 5 coaches in college basketball, but he's not outside of the top 20.

Can't speak as to the plane, but if Alleva has plans to do more than one thing in Atlanta - like talk to somebody else in the morning, for example (and that doesn't necessarily mean a basketball coach) - then it's entirely possible that the plane went there to drop him off and either he flies back commercial or the plane picks him up tomorrow.
Word I'd heard was that Alleva was meeting with Dixon tonight.
Word I'd also heard was that if the Dixon thing doesn' work out they will have to tell Pastner no - because he's actively seeking the job.

It looks like Alleva's plane landed in Lafayette?
Get someone on I-10 to look for a police escort.

But why would the plane spend that much time in Atlanta to just drop off Alleva?
Posted on 4/11/12 at 4:34 pm to tuptiger
He is simply a solid hire. He built and maintained Pitt since 2003. Not a visibly dirty recruiter.
