The return game won't be on Thanksgiving? Why not the return game will be on Saturday night?

How do you know that this is even a possibility? Do you expect SEC/CBS to just invent a time slot on the Saturday night after Thanksgiving so LSU (1 out of 14 schools, mind you) will have one less thing to bitch about? Also - How do you even know that he didn't ask for it but was denied? Oh yeah, you don't. Neither do I.

Ever stop to think that the SEC might want the game in that slot too? It's not just aTm calling the shots.

Where has Joe Alleva gained any traction with the SEC office?

The fact that he's gotten any concessions at all, as an LSU AD, is good enough for me.

So in 2005, following Katrina, when LSU was 11-1 and ranked #3 in the nation following the regular season, are you going to tell me that Slive protected LSU by sending them back to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl?

What bowl did you want the to go? The SEC only put 1 team in the 4 BCS bowls and at the time the Peach bowl was a much better bowl than the Cotton.

Exactly the SEC wants A&M and LSU's TV markets in that time slot. Also don't be surprised if the game is played on SECtv

not to mention LSU was in the Cap One the year before, so letting Aub-Wisc take that slot wound up letting LSU have a more attractive matchup against Miami in the Peach.

Let the Egg Bowl get sacrificed and put into that spot....regardless neither matchup will draw as many viewers as the NFL.

Yea, pretty much, aside from screwing up the schedule for the team, it's a pain in the arse for the fans who would like to attend as well.

Again....how many season tickets/away games do you attend?

Because LSU had to AGREE to play on Thanksgiving night.

Well, they just created a time slot to satisfy 1 out of 14 schools (Tx A&M).

Why can the SEC tell LSU what to do, but not Alabama? They tried to move the Iron Bowl to Friday, and after one home and home Nick Saban got that shite swiftly changed.

So Alleva should have proposed that they move a game not involving LSU or A&M to Thanksgiving in order to get what SOME fans want? Got it.

Maybe the SEC wanted a game in that slot that will get more ratings (LSU-A&M).

Sure, it's not ideal, but some of y'all don't seem to understand that Alleva's hands are, for the most part, tied in this situation. He managed to get a bye week before the game, so it doesn't really screw our schedule up and he ensured that there won't be this TRAVESTY of playing a Thanksgiving day game in Tiger Stadium in 2015. It's clear that A&M AND the SEC wanted this game on Thanksgiving. Alleva did the best he could, based on the information we have, to protect LSU's interests.

Not sure how this is relevant at all, but since you asked, I have two season tickets and try to make it to at least 1 road game a year.

If you're man enough, you're AD tells the SEC to get fricked, we're not playing on Thanksgiving night.

What are they going to do? Give us cross-divisional oppnents that are a combined 14-2 while giving Alabama cross-divional opponents that are a combined 1-15? They going to do that two years in a row? They going to tell the bowls not to take LSU because they need to protect UGA?

Ok...so he got us a bye week and ensured we don't have to play on Turkey Day in 2015, but what happens after that? We'll get stuck playing on Thanksgiving every time we go to College Station, and likely will still have to play at 1:30 on Friday when we host the Aggies. If he had somehow guaranteed us a Saturday night home game, then people wouldn't be so pissed. I don't think it was a fair exchange. A&M is obsessed with playing on Thanksgiving. It's one of their most revered traditions. Since UT won't play them anymore, they had to manufacture some sort of rivalry game and LSU got stuck with the booby prize.

Yeah, that'll get the job done!

Again, how do you know he didn't demand that it not be played on Thanksgiving and the SEC didn't just laugh in his face? Seems pretty believable to me. You can scream and cry all you want, but if the SEC (or Bama) wants something to happen, it's going to happen. Just be happy that he was able to get a bye week before so it won't screw up our schedule and it won't be played on T-giving next year.

I wasn't even going to dignify his question with a response.

Season tixs since the early 80's and many road games in many many years.

Which is irrelevant. This is America. You are free to be all pissy about a lack of perceived respect and walk away with your support of LSU and its athletics programs at any time.

The LSU football program has tons of fans that live in reality and understand that not everything will work the way ONE fan may want it to work. To the dude who thinks everything is based on their wishes you are delusional and make most of the normal fans look like fools with your bitching and whining about this particular subject

It reminds me of a kid in line at the grocery store that gets all pissy when he sees another kid with a candy bar, and his mom won't buy him one.

It's ridiculous

It upsets MY thanksgiving

It upsets MY travel plans

I WANT night games every week

It isn't fair to ME

We are fans. Just fans. If it upsets YOU so much don't go, don't watch, find something else to support because you are not going to get it the way you want it.

And if the SEC ever goes to 16 teams or a 9 GM schedule it will be even worse. Accept the way the CFB world is going or stop being a fan.

This is the case with more fans than not. Thus it is an issue

What possible reason would the SEC want to place a game in a time slot that is assured a smaller audience? There is absolutely no way a college game on Thanksgiving night is going to get more viewers while up against NFL at the same time than it would the following day up against essentially nothing.

Further, what possible reason would CBS have in allowing the movie in the first place? They clearly have had 2 games that Holiday weekend for a long time now...LSU-Arky and the Iron Bowl. They tired of making ad money on that extra game?

Can you not see that LSU is always on the short end of the stick with the SEC office lately? What favors has the SEC done for LSU?

I don't claim to know their motivation behind the move, maybe it's a market/time slot they're trying to get into. I can't speak for their reasoning, I can only speak for what we know.

All I'm trying to do is defend Alleva from the idiots calling for his head. His hands were basically tied, as he was up against the SEC and aTm, and he did all he could in the interest of LSU's athletic program.

This isn't a recent development. LSU has always been an "outsider" in the SEC up against UGA/Bama/Auburn, etc.
