cool... what's the next set of Powerball numbers, since you can apparently see the future?

look, like i said the potential is there, no doubt... but the production isn't, yet, and it's pretty disingenuous to discount entire careers of players that actually did have great production for LSU...

i agree, when it's all said and done, they likely will be all-time... they just ain't there yet... but it's your list, so include who you want, but just saying, those guys ain't there yet

Warren Capone?? all-american in '72 and '73... Trev Faulk and Ali Highsmith are also more deserving than Mike Anderson and Kevin Minter, while we are at

I agree, I forgot about Capone, Trev was fun to watch with Bradie James, but Minter was a beast. That’s a tough one since I only put 6 linebackers

[quote]An argument could be made for any of the three, but imo its Burrow followed by Jones, and then Hodson.

That’s how I originally had it, I switched it back

That’s a tough one due to Chase only really playing his sophomore season, if he wouldn’t of sat out his junior year, he’d be on it. But, can’t put him over Reed and Clayton

Wide Receiver is by the far the hardest position to fill as it is so hard to compare across eras. Using a criteria of era specific stats and opinionated eye test, mine would be Reed, Davis, and Chase followed by Eric Martin, Jefferson, and Clayton.

Josh Reed was the one guy who had better than separation than any WR I have ever seen in college ball. No one has ever been as wide open as many times as he was. Eric Martin is third in career yards and played his career with Hillard and James at RB getting a ton of carries and his last two years with below average QB play.

Again. Great list with great criteria.

I don't know if I would have Mason Taylor listed quite yet at TE. I'd probably have Robert Royal over him and Richard Dickson.

I been playing those same numbers for over 20 years lol.

I took the freshman off the list, so help me find a edge rusher and 2 offensive tackles

I thought Clayton should be left off as well originally, but after a closer look, I dont think so. 4th in all time yards in only 3 seasons with only 1 of those seasons with a good passing QB in Rohan Davey. And in that season, his freshman year, he played opposite of Biletnikoff winner Josh Reed. His next two years he had Marcus Randall and Matt Mauck at QB. That's a LOT of production in that scenario.

Tackle is hard as we havent had a lot of top tier guys. Even Whitworth was never All-American. One that was missed is Robert Dugas from mid-70's. Road grader for Charles Alexander and 2nd team AA. I think its Whitworth and Collins with Dugas and I guess Ciron Black as backups.

Edge rusher has only been a thing for the last 10-15 years, so the pool of players isn't that large. Gabe Northern was more of a traditional DE but would probably be one today. Brooks was so versatile as a drop back LB its hard to say, but would probably be a 3rd down pass rush guy in todays game as well. Imo, I would just replace the position with a 3rd linebacker group.

I put Dugas before I read this and was up in the air about putting Northern, I moved Jackson to edge and put Wiley as the 3rd end

He was the best all-around player in LSU history. He played both ways and made the goal line tackle to save the Ole Miss game AFTER he had made his famous punt return

No arguments that he was a great all-around player but if you are picking the best players at a specific position there have been numerous other LSU RB's that were better than Cannon. His goal line stand was a great play but that doesn't have to do with anything about his RB play. As a RB he averaged about 50 yards per game, 686 yards rushing was his best year. 19 Total TD's in 3 years as a starter. Great all around player maybe the best, but not a top tier LSU RB.

I went back and forth with that one and IMO, he deserved a spot on all time greats, he won the heisman
