It appears that the tiger fans have spoken to a rediculously priced item, for once.
Tiger Fans,
REMINDER: Deadline to secure an Alex Box Suite for the 2009 football season is Friday, July 31st.
TAF is providing this opportunity to our donors who are interested in entertaining clients, family and friends, in a comfortable environment. We must have 50% of the tailgating suites utilized in order to meet the operating expenses, i.e. staff, security, cleaning, associated with this endeavor. If by the deadline of July 31st we do not reach the occupancy needed to cover the operating expenses, we will defer this opportunity to the 2010 football season. Therefore, please contact our office by the deadline date so we can determine the level of interest for the 2009 football season.
These tailgating suites are available at a cost of $25,000 for the season. There may also be game-by-game suite rentals available depending on demand. Available suites will be allocated using the Priority Point System. Please click here for an informational sheet, which outlines the amenities included.
Please contact Beverly Theriot at (225) 578-0161 by the deadline of July 31st to reserve your Alex Box Tailgate Suite for the 2009 season. If you have additional questions, please contact our office at (800) 644-4823 or (225) 578-4823.
Sincerely,
MajGen R.G. Richard, USMC (Ret.)

once again, some people have more money than sense

NO, the email that was just sent out stating the fact that the suites must meet a certain allotment....

This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of even beyond the cost. Can you imagine inviting your guest/customer to the game and then go on to tell them they have to watch it in Alex Box on the video screen?

Yeah, most people are probably just assuming this is about the suites, but this email is actually saying there isn't much demand for them, and they're thinking of scrapping the idea all together.
I actually think it would be pretty cool to have a suite in Alex Box, but I would never give up our "normal" tailgate for that. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I'd get one just to have it just in case for a rainy day or something.

Call me crazy but if had I the money I would do it.
Reasons:
*Great view of Tiger Stadium for gamedays & nights
*Parking
*A/C
*Shelter if it rains
*High Quality video playback with great sound system
*Clean Restroom facilities
*Maid service for clean-up
*Bring own food (no shitey catering service)
*Helping the cause of advancing TAF endeavors
...just saying, if I had it...WTF, why not.

Not a chance.
I have a functioning brain. Even if I had more money than I knew what to do with it makes ZERO sense.
I'd just have a Tiger Den suite.

if someone has 25,000 to dish out for a tailgating suite, they almost certainly have tickets to the game

There are individuals that prefer not to be in the stadium for the game. They enjoy the tailgate experience. I know a fan who has an RV with tickets and he just gives them to family and friends and watches the game in the RV.

Someone tell the Athletic Dept. if they priced those at 10 to 15K a piece they might get people to bite and sell them all.
It's obvious people aren't willing to pay that much so drop the price, seriously, how hard is supply-demand to understand?

More power to the LSUAD/TAF if they can find some suckers to bite. They could use the money to send the full GBFTL to the Alabama game or maybe put some kind of covering on all the window boxes to cover up/hide all the broken out windows in the old TS dorms......

I just find it hilarious that TAF/LSU wants to propose something like this in this economy ...
Fair is fair and money talks, but lets get real.

this still wouldn't work...if they need to rent half of the suites at $25,000 just to meet operating costs, then they'd have to sell 75-80% of them at $15,000 before they broke even. there's no way in hell this ever catches on...what a disaster.
