Agreed, especially when implementing the HOK or HOK-esque retro park theme.

Looking at the photo more, I noticed that there will be considerably more leg room than the old Alex Box. It looks like they really took fan comfort seriously when designing the new Alex Box.

well the old park had lots of leg room around home plate. im sure the bleachers will be just as tight as always.

I don't think so, I forget the architects listed a few years ago when it came together, but aren't they local? Same folks that did Zephyr? I have no idea.

That's because when they installed those gold-back seats they eliminated every other row because it would have been too tight. The rest of the grandstand seats at the old Alex Box are not as roomy as the new one.

I don't think the left field and right field bleachers will be tight like before. The grandstand has 20 rows as opposed to the bleachers which have 21 rows. Based on that, I would say the legroom will be fairly close to the grandstand.

Now, the bleachers beyond the left field wall will probably be the same as they were at the old Alex Box. I wouldn't be surprised if they "re-use" the bleachers from the old Alex Box. That's just my educated opinion based on the rendereings (which show standard, low cost bleachers), along with there not being any sign of the left field bleachers being installed at this moment. If they don't re-use the existing bleachers, they look like they will be the same type.

The stadium was designed through a combined effort of Grace & Hebert Architects of Baton Rouge and DLR Group of Omaha, Neb.

HOK Sports Venue and Event were on it with Grace and Hebert but LSU fired HOK. Grace and Hebert did a great job on the design.

they definitely are reusing them. ticket off guy told me as much when he called me about transfering my tickets to the new stadium.

Hmmm...interesting. I wonder what they plan on doing with the rest of the bleachers? Maybe they can use some of them at the intramural fields? No use in letting all that aluminum go to waste.

guess thats the price i pay for choosing to be a bleacher bum.

In those pics, the seats have no bottoms. There will be seat bottoms, right? Or will we have to lean against the seat back?

Yeah...I can see where you are coming from. I almost get the feeling that they originally didn't intend to have seats behind the left field wall, but someone came up with the idea to just bring over the existing bleachers, save a lot of moeny, and make more money with the increased capacity at the same time and also to tie the new ball park with the old ball park. Kind of a homage to the old ball park.

the seat bottoms were taken out of the plan after katrina happened and the cost of construction went up.
