You seriously don't see how this hurts LSU?
UT is down right now. They'll be back. And yes, Bama, UT and UF can be good at the same time. Ya know, like they were in the 90's...

You don't know that. Things change, they have no recruiting base. From 1950-1970 Ole Miss had the best record in college football. They will not be back. Just because a team was great once, doens't necessarily mean they will be great again - ask Vandy.
But what I found interesting in the comments on the article was all the Bama fans who were saying, "It's not Bama's fault." WTF? Persecution complex much? No one's blaming anyone for anything, just pointing out that in the 3rd millenium, we need to do things right. Rotate all cross division opponents equally.
Who could argue against that being the best for the conference?

Just say it out loud. You are an entitled little hack that expects continued SPECIAL PROTECTION from the league office.
And for the record in the Florida/Tennessee series:
The Gators have won EIGHT in a row.
The Gators have won SIXTEEN of the last TWENTY.
The Gators have won TWENTY of the last TWENTY FIVE.
Tenn sure did have their number prior to 1954 (10-0)...

I have no issue with Bama vs UT. It is an established rivalry. Period.
I just wish the SEC would recognize the heated rivalry we have with Vanderbilt and schedule us accordingly. There is no team I hate more in the SEC than them. Bunch of arrogant punks every time they take the field.

Ok, so the top 2 programs in the SEC East have more/less been Georgia and Florida in the last 15 years or so.
Since 2000, Auburn has played them 19 times.
LSU has played them 17 times.
Gumps have played them 8 times.
Congrats on your weak-arse schedule, Bama.

Preach it brother. The Man is keeping us both down. Let the hatred openly flow between the Tigers and the Commodores.

If Tennessee and Alabama playing one another is so important to them, let them play it as a non-conference game. The rest of the league shouldn't be held hostage to that abomination. It hasn't meant squat since 1973.
Ole Miss and Alabama had a two year home and home in 1980 and 1981 that were deemed "non-conference". When the Big 10 went to 11 teams tinkering with basketball scheduling, Indiana and Purdue scheduled a game after the league one year had them playing only once.

Amazing most of those comments are rational.

I think this desire to get Florida off of the LSU schedule is short sighted with the new world of the playoff coming.
Remember, the playoff teams will be selected pretty much the same way the NCAA Tournament teams are.
SOS is going to be a factor. Having Floridfa on the schedule is a big assist. Beating Florida will look better than beating Vandy. If LSU is fighting for that 4th spot in the playoff, having a Florida win may be the difference maker. There will be a lot more competiton for the #4 playoff sopt than there ever has been for the #2 BCSCG spot.

Damn good point

I don't understand why people just want to fold over on this. Honestly if we played Vandy every year i would want the permanent cross division opponent to be dropped. I want to be able to go to all SEC venues within a reasonable amount of time and there is no way to do this with an 8 SEC schedule unless you drop the permanent opponent.

Actually it was Kentucky.
In 2002 when the SEC switched from the 5-2-1 to the 5-1-2, LSU had played Kentucky 53 times - every year since 1949 except 1951. LSU had played Florida 49 times - every year since 1953 except 1968-1970.
So LSU had a longer standing rivalry with Kentucky than with Florida. Why did we have to drop an historic rival in Ketucky for some contrived rivalry with Florida?
Bring back our trditional rivals, the Kentucky Wildcats!
Note: LSU started playing Kentucky every year when Bear Bryant was coaching there. LSU also started playing Alabama every year once Brayant started coaching there.

Permanent opponents need to go.....bottom line
It has nothing to do with being "scared" of UF or UT being down.

Internet tough guys that worry more about some Bama fans on a message board calling them a bitch than being intellectually honest with themselves when it comes to the schedules being unbalanced because of permanent opponents is ridiculous.

Championship game makes this a moot point. Win the west and you play the best from the east regardless.

Tennessee has more wins against Bama than anyone, and our rivalry is cyclical
Since 2003, Tennessee is 39-43 in the SEC, 2-8 against Florida, 4-6 against Georgia, 3-7 against Alabama, 0-5 against Auburn, 1-2 against Arkansas, and 1-4 against LSU.
You are 11-32 against the best in the SEC the past ten years. That's a long sucking cycle which is not likely to change anytime soon with your limited recruiting base.
These so called rival games need to go.
