Since Bama is the benchmark, do you think Saban would have promoted coach E to OC?

Do you think he’d keep him at that position (based on the sample size we have)?

I don’t see it. He evolved his offense years ago and hasn’t turned back.

To me, E is not able to adjust to the talent he has (apparently shitty O line) and burrow doesn’t appear to be progressing (lack of qb development).

Seems familiar to miles’ regime which called for a high level of execution for the offense to work.

Saban is all business. First of all he would have never promoted E and if for some reason he did E would be demoted or let go.

Do you know who Bama's OC is? I would guess not because he was promoted within....former WR coach. So it's not like they went out and got the best OC available.

This is the issue. Ensminger doesn't have a scheme or run any specific offense.

We need someone who knows what they want to run, is fluent in that scheme and will be all in, in implementing that scheme.

Our head coach now, has claimed he would do this, then turns right around and fires his first OC because of personal differences. He hires someone who has no fluency in ANY offensive scheme, then claims we are going to see something different.

Orgeron LIED, about everything. About not interfering and letting his coaches coach and about the supposed "scheme" we would see this year.

Until Orgeron fires Ensminger and brings in someone who is sold out on their philosophy/scheme AND let's them implement and run it, uninterrupted, LSU will continue to be 9-3 every year and watching Bama make runs for SEC West and national titles.

I have no faith that coach O will relieve Ensminger of his duties as OC and bring in someone who can get the job done.

The problem with his passion and "ra ra" attitude, is that it eventually wears off in favor of results (or in this case, lack thereof).

Your post points out one of Saban’s strongest talents, evaluating players talent and adjusting his O and D to maximize those talents. He never tries to force players into a system that does not fit their talents, he will change his O and D as need be so they will fit. That has been one of the biggest criticism’s of Malzahn at AU, it is perceived he tries to force his players into his system, and many times it does not work. The proverbial square peg in a round hole. I wonder if this could be Ensminger’s problem?

That is fair.

He seems to be doing good job though, right?

He also has much more recent OC experience than ensminger. Judging how calculated Saba is, he was probably WR coach knowing he could tap him as the next OC. They also laid some groundwork over the recent years where he didn’t necessarily have to come in and put in a totally different system, just like Daboll didn’t have to either.

He also is running a modern spread offense.

Saban would be quick to cut bait IMO if needed though.

yup.

And Malzahn being a 'system' guy can't evolve very smoothly. Having an 'identity' or 'system' is overrated. You just need one that year, as defined by your personnel.

If Hurts was back there it would not be the same 'system' that we see with Tua.

Saban is all about efficiency. And maximizing the skills on the field is a big part of that... to do that you have to put them in a role that matches.

ETA:
And this discussion has gotten me thinking about names and coaches and who's good and who's not.

Dan Enos is coaching Tua. The same 'failure' of an OC for Fat Bert. Just a word of caution regarding 'hot names', track records, and most importantly putting it all in context. Yes, E's current productivity is severely affected by the OL, and I say WRs not getting open too. The question we need to ask, ourselves, what's the ceiling and what's the floor and can we put the people and players in place to reach that ceiling.

Saban could have Gomer Pile as OC and still be a 11-0 team. When you have that type of talent it doesnt take much to execute plays. Those boys in the trenches at BAMA are studs but they have studs backing them up too. blocking is the key to happiness!

We just need our LA boys to be men and stay here and build a legacy by busting Bamas arse..would only take a year or two of good Oline recruiting to get our line right and itll be on!
