They have a good run defense and a decent pass defense
LSU has a decent running game and horrible passing offense

Advantage Alabama

They have a great running game and an decent passing attack
LSU has a decent running defense and a great passing defense

LSU and Alabama Tie unless of course they run Ingram out of the wildcat then Advantage Alabama

Coaching Staff Advantage Alabama

Agree or disagree?

Pro style is offense is a better matchup overall

Our atrocious offense coupled with the fact Bama has had 2 weeks with a defensive minded HC is a bad matchup

LSU has a decent running gam

LSUs running game is good, Bama's is elite.

Agreed.

I'm worried about this matchup. LSU matched well with them past two years because we were built to stop the power game that Bama runs. We're not built for that anymore. Jury is still out but AU played power football on us and crammed it up our asses. We did sit on our heels the entire game, so it remains to be seen if a aggressive defense will be able to stop the run or not. We didn't put a safety in the box either but it still needs to be said AU set a record on us rushing. Regardless how you play defense, that is disturbing and it is obvious LSU has huge holes against the rush.

With that being said, we're undersized and Bama is all power football. Also, like you mentioned, our strength on offense plays into their strength on defense. Bama is pretty big in their front seven...

Going to be a long day, IMO. I don't think LSU matches up well with Bama this year. They need to stack the box to have any chance at beating them. We have to force them to throw and play in our strength.

LSU has proven they can stop a traditional running attack. That is what Alabama runs.

I feel like this game could go either way.

The BYE weeks actually hurts Bama's defense. Hear me out:

LSU's offense is so bad, there's no need to spend more than a couple of practices implementing a gameplan. The extra week gives them too much time, "paralysis by analysis" so to speak.

I like this matchup better than Auburn. Their pro style offense opens it up to attack the QB, which we are great at. If we are able to contain Ingram and Richardson, I see us teeing off on Mcelroy and forcing him into some mistakes. If we can't contain their running game, it's going to be a long day.

No doubt it is a better matchup than Auburn.

A bulldozer but fleet of foot quarterback is a tough matchup for anyone.

At least Alabama is more predictable. You just have to be able to match their intensity.

if we play as motivated as we did the last 3 yrs, and i think we will, this game will come down to injuries, turnovers and the breaks of the game (ref calls, key plays, key penalties, etc). bama will be a hell of a lot easier to defense than auburn (thanks to newton).

Who is a good matchup when you compare LSU's coaching and offense to the other team's?

Out of the good teams LSU plays, Alabama is one of the better matchups.

Florida has a good pass defense and we were able to throw on them. West Virginia has a good rush defense and Ridley ran all over them.

I don't think this game is going to play out the way so many Tiger fans are thinking. I don't think we lose, I think we win by 7 and our defense proves all of the nay-sayers wrong.
Bama is not going to run the ball 50-60 times like Auburn, and if they do, it will not be as effective from a conventional formation. They will be forced to pass, and I haven't seen that they are dominate enough to beat us if we can produce on offense.
Their defense has not been the monster everyone expected and hyped, and they can be burned, through the air and on the ground. Tigers 24 - Ala-fricking-bama 17.

Bama is going to line up and run the ball down LSU's throat. LSU will start off stopping them, but eventually they will grind the ball down the field. LSU will have to bring extra help to stop the run and then Bama is going to hit them with the play action. LSU's offense won't do crap against Bama's D. Game will probably be close, but at no time will LSU be in control of the game, similar to UF lasst yr.

LSU is gonna send Mcelroy home on a stretcher..Tiger defense will be all over him through out the day....offense will do just enough to preserve a Tiger win.

When Saban was here we always came out flat and sloppy the week after a bye. Not sure if that's carried on at Bama. Miles is the opposite.

i just am having a hard time expecting our offense just to all the sudden produce. Auburn's defense was supposed to be shite, real fricking doo doo. They were i think almost last in the sec. out of all the teams in the sec, alabama needed a bye week the most. 6 teams they played in a row all had bye weeks before playing them.

we have not improved at ALL. We have actually gotten worse throughout the year. The offense and les miles / gary crowton have sucked me dry.

I love my tigers, and will be cheering like crazy and yes we have a chance to win. But it's a pretty small chance.
