No doubt a class act by our fans. Makes me even prouder to be counted in that number. After reading thru the thread, wanted to comment on Baseball fans being more classy than Football fans. Obviously, they are one in the same, but I wanted to concur with one posters reasoning, and mention one of my own. I agree that average blood alcohol content of the fanbase is significantly lower at a baseball game. No doubt, this has some bearing. The other is, seldom is the emphasis as critical on one series in baseball as it is in football. Even though we have a crystal ball during a two loss campaign, that was unusal. Most times, ANY loss during the regular series in Football severly hampers if not elimanates a teams chance for the national title. Each baseball game is important, but seldom does any regular season game have the make or break impact on a national title. This in itself lends to a less "rabid"/"hostile" enviroment. Just a thought

My dad served 5 years in the Army Air Corp during WWII, so the tribute was special for me too.

The response was certainly an expression of Tiger fans' appreciation for the AFA cadets and their service to the country. And as was mentioned by other posters, LSU baseball fans have a deep sense of sportsmanship which goes beyond patriotism displayed last weekend.

Why? In my opinion, the game of baseball, due to its nature, lends itself to moments where the spotlight is on an individual performance, a great catch, throw, or hustle. As Tiger fans, we are proud to uphold our reputation for appreciating those moments.

Last night, the App St shortstop made a nice play when he leaped high in the air to snag a line drive, and sure enough, Tiger fans applauded the effort.

Don't get me wrong. I want to win every baseball game, just like I want to win every football game. But our baseball fans reputation for good sportsmanship is unique and very rewarding to me.

It is definitely easier.

I still think that, as a whole, the fan's reception of the Air Force Academy would have been positive even if they had beat us. LSU baseball fans are a patriotic bunch.

I bet the Appalachian State coach sends a nice letter also after the last two games.
