His schemes, with All-American talent at all 11 positions, are incredibly complex and effective. The problem Gary has/had is that he does not develop his scheme for the players at his disposal nor does he develop the players for his scheme.

However, if you dropped him on the Dallas Cowboys, their offense would be legendary. He is just not a very good college coordinator IMO.

You'll have to wait after the season is over with before you can answer that question. Krag deserves a full season first then compare or grade how he faired against Crowton. IMO

meh, too early to tell, but i still think it was more Jefferson then Crowton, although play calling was horrid, i just believe it was because of how bad JJ was, i mean is...

Do you have to be a coach to have a legitimate concern about the passing game going into the season?

Yeah. Hey! I want to be a coach. Where can I go to get that pHD in college football that Les has? Maybe there is some tech school for it? Oh, wait, what? Les has a degree in economics? Well I'm sure it was more than just contacts right? I mean seriously, Les had to have some training in some other position besides Oline (which he played). Who was his mentor that trained him for so long?

Ok, here's my point: Coaching in football is not what you know, it's who you know. Period.

Yea...Saban only got offered the Miami job because of his great friendship with the owners...had nothing to do with his accomplishments.

You should probably stop posting now.

i wouldn't know where to start with this.

i'm going back to the relative sanity of the Movie/TV board.

Holy fricking shite. Do you actually believe this crap? HINT: Leslie is going to play the QB which give him the best chance to keep his lucrative job. Political campaign? Are you serious? I swear I lose IQ points when I read the shite on this board sometimes.

I sure hope you don't lose IQ points...from your comments it doesn't look like you can afford to lose too many.

If I was Les, first play of the spring game would have been a short side option just to frick with the crowd.

I think Les bears 100% of the responsibility for our QB woes. He's the HC and he failed to recruit viable alternatives for two years until signing Mett. So this is his issue. Fortunately for him, he has done a fantastic job at every other position on the field and the 2010 team could have beaten ANYONE with just a decent (top 40) QB. With JJ, we only lost twice. From the looks of it, we have a similar scenario in 2011. The question is whether Les will again take a MNC-caliber team and let it be led by a QB who should be playing in the MAC and win 10 games but no titles? Or will he take a risk with Mett and go for having this team be the best it can be even if the downside is greater?

As between the OC and the QB on the question of our offense sucking for two years, I put 80% of it on JJ and 20% of it on Crowton. Poor Gary was left putting lipstick on a pig but he didn't even do that right.

It's true though. I'm not saying it's true for Les and/or how he landed at LSU. In the NFL it's definitely who you know. That's why they keep recycling the same coaches over and over.

In the NFL or in college, its about who you know to get your foot in the door. Once you have a position, moving up or down or sideways is about what you know. Same in 99% of professions.

Sorry if this has already been posted in the thread somewhere but didn't feel like reading the whole damn thing.

But just listening to Miles on the head set talking to Krags, it seemed that he was letting Krags make most of the calls and was even saying, "Come on Steve, it's your call"

Also I agree it's just a scrimmage that was on live TV so I'm sure there were just a few plays ran that will actually be involved in the game plan this fall. Overall I thought the plays looked very simple and appeared to be plays that are a standard part of anyone's playbook this day in age of college football.

Except after Mett's TD. Then Les told him, "I want us running the ball and throwing slants."
