Imagine that - dishing to the open man.

BTW - hope all is well with you. Been too long.

I agree with the guys who say this is nonsense. Pete did not make 13 shots per game average that would be 3 pointers today. How many 3 pointers per game (career) does Steph Curry average? The answer is 3.6

Regardless of whether the math supports the number, Pete was the greatest scorer ever and would have been by an even wider margin if there had been a three-point shot in his day. In a game against Alabama in their arena, he scored 63 points, the final basket coming on a hook shot from half court as time expired.

I do believe Pete scored 63 against Alabama, but the hook shot from half court at the buzzer was a different game. That shot was at Georgia. Nonetheless, he was the best passer and ball handler ever. Ernie DiGregorio at Providence, had a bit of the same game, but not on Pistol's level. He also wasn't 6'5".

Ernie D had great handles, but his lack of speed hurt him in the pros.

I did a similar analysis about 15 years ago. A buddy of mine got copies of his shot charts. We figured it would have been about 53 a game. But we never allowed for how many times he would have stepped back on a 2 to make it a 3. 57 doesn’t sound unreasonable to me.

You had to be aware because you would be shocked to get a pass from him because he shot so much.
