was he worse than JJ vs fla? at home? after starting several games, not coming off the bench cold? against the not ranked number one defense?

On his last two passes in the Bama game, he threw the ball behind two LSU receivers who were wide open and right into the hands of the defenders chasing them, but they were so surprised by the ball that luckily they dropped them. Not to mention that both passes were short 10 yard passes. Plus he was slow as molasses eluding the rush.

By the way, how long have you had a man crush on JL?

Personally I will never forgive Crowton and Miles for massacreing Lee's career. The way they handled him his first year was criminal and absolutely murdered this kid's psyche. And it sucks because physically he is Peyton Manning to Jefferson's Chad Pennington.

Also, like someone said, Les and some of Lee's teammates really shoulda been punched in the face for the way they commented on his play to the media.

Regardless of how he performs from here on out and regardless of the pick-sixes he's thrown I still respect him as much as any player on our team. How he isn't sitting in the corner of the locker room at McNeese and crying himself to sleep each night is beyong me. The guy has alligator tough skin.

I just hope there really is an open competition like people are professing. Many lump me in as a Lee-lover/Jefferson-hater and it's not that at all. I just feel like Jefferson has been given the position without really doing anything to seperate himself from Lee. I don't care who starts as long as there was an honest competition and someone won.

I really want J Lee to do well. I just do not see it happening. I remember LA Tech last year, it seems we threw and threw to get his confidence up. But he looked really bad that game. We should have at least looked like we did against Auburn. I am not sure J Lee will ever be confident enough to lead us. But I hope for his sake, he can regain that confidence.

Yes...

An emotionally abusive relationship consists of the fans and a player. Dr. Phil has something to say to both.

The Fans

Have you thought about how your actions truly affect the player? Even when you stop the abuse, the pain continues because you've trampled on the player's heart and spirit.

Dr. Phil defines a fan as both a coward and a bully. You choose to abuse where it is safe, in a place where you feel loved and protected. Would you do it in the workplace where you might get fired or in a social situation where others might get insulted?

You need to understand that respect is commanded, not demanded. If you think degrading and belittling a player commands respect, you're wrong. You are simply demanding by imposing fear.

All fans have excuses, says Dr. Phil. While the excuses vary, one principle remains: You are abusing instead of being constructive.

If you want to recover — for yourself and the player — you need to tell yourself: "I'm not going to take this from me anymore." Sit down with the player, look into his/her eyes, and apologize for the wounds you've inflicted over time.

Healing is a process. Rescuing your relationship will take patience and persistence.

The Player

Take responsibility. You have played a role in setting up the relationship this way, and you must play a role in changing it. Telling the fans that the treatment is unacceptable is not enough. Your actions speak louder than words, so you need to make two bold moves: Change your own routine or behavior, and tell the fans you will no longer take the abuse.

Dr. Phil refers to a saying: "There are no victims, only volunteers." Don't go along to get along. Peace at any price is no peace at all.

Relationships are always up for renegotiation. You need to sit down with the fans, look them in the eyes, and tell them that you are taking a stand. You will not stay with the team if the abuse continues. From there, begin to negotiate. Figure out how both of you can take strides to make the team win.

Watch yourself to make sure you don't fall back into the victim role.

One thing I have to defend JL on in the Bama game. He just watched JJ get layed out on an illegal crown with no flag called. How'd you like to be the next guy when the coach says..."ok, you're up...go get 'em...make us proud." He was probably shitting egg rolls.

I think Lee's done this. Go back and read the article carefully. He says he's gone back and watch film to learn from his mistakes. He's worked extremely hard to shed some 20 pounds or so. Certainly that has to help him with his footspeed and conditioning.

Coaches seem to be hinting that he's performing well in practice. Those same coaches, I believe, did him a disservice by not giving him meaningful opportunities in games prior to him being called into service v. Alabama. A good hitter doesn't pull himself out of a slump by sitting on the bench.

We need to have two QBs ready to play. That should be evident by what happened the last three seasons. We didn't one ready to go last year.

In the spring game, Lee connected on 10-of-20 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown but was also intercepted, which went for a score.

Totally agree.

What? Jefferson has some serious physical tools. His arm is more than adequate. He's no Leinhart/Wuerfel/Pennington.

If by serious physical tools you mean he throws the ball like PP does the windmill then yes I agree. Jefferson gets by because he's athletic but everything about how he throws the ball is ugly. His deep ball is also borderline non-existent although reports are he's improved this over the offseason.

Lee's mechanics are about as compact as they get. His release is one of the quickest I've seen and he might throw one of the prettiest deep balls in the SEC (Why can't you catch the ball Demetrius Byrd?!?!?!).

Physically there is no competition.

Well, let's see...

An the rest of the article was about him moving on and working hard to correct mistakes. Contacting past players for advice and working with current receivers to improve.

I can understand that if you only read that one paragraph you could think that way, but if you readthe whole thing you should come out with a better feeling.

Oh well, whatever. People are going to see what they want to see. I am sure I am no different.

It's the big knock on Lee. He's got plenty of physical tools, but the psychological dmaage is just so great. I admire the kid ofr trying to tough it out, but when he plays, his body language speaks volumes: it looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I think he would have done best for himself to transfer just to start over. But, I do admire his grit for sticking it out - he's a true Tiger and I wish him the best.

(Please note: I don't care about the JJ v. JL debate, and this is not intended to start it - I'm just commenting on Lee's deep psychological scars)

I think it's really terrible that any fan of LSU would think like this.
