The sun issues have been covered, so here’s another factor that favors West. West has escalators to deliver you to your level. East has ramps that you walk up. No contest.

Not even close. I had season tickets in the South Endzone for 40 years, but had friends in both upper decks. I have sat in both several times. Been covered thoroughly. Sun is horrible on the eastside. Last post brought up escalators, but did not mention the express elevators on each side of the West deck. which are staffed by LSU and the lines move through theatre style ropes to avoid chaos. Lines move quickly. Another factor is the concessions and bathrooms are much better on the West Deck. I would rather sit at the top of the West than at the bottom of the East. Very high but the big screen TV in the North endzone and at each corner of the South endzone insure you won't miss the action.

East uppers will have sun for about 30 minutes or so till it gets behind the west upper wall. You can each bring a 32 oz unopened water bottle.
Go to victory hill, chill in the air conditioned PMAC and watch the band perform there, check out a real tiger on campus, and just walk around and sight see the tailgates and the frat tents (always interesting things going on there).
Have a plan for entry and pay attention to the contra flow in and out.
