During the LSU-West Virginia game, Bret and Kirk as well as a couple of ESPN articles were saying that LSU deserves the #1 ranking because they beat 3 ranked teams on the road while Oklahoma just beat 1. I remember Kirk saying "You gotta look at the body of work and LSU has had a much tougher road than Oklahoma so far and passed each test."

Today watching the post game of Oklahoma-Texas, Jesse Palmer and Scott Van Pelt say that because OU was the "preseason #1 and they have not done anything to not stay at the #1 ranking, they deserve to be #1. After all, Florida was playing with a true freshman at QB today against LSU."

That's funny, I thought Texas had 2 freshman QB's playing today too. Florida State, OU's "signature win" is now 3-3 overall, so the only ranked team OU played was Texas. Really, Texas is probably not even a top 20 team.

Then, the dork doing the Ohio State-Nebraska game said pretty much the same thing Van Pelt and Palmer said.

Since when does pre-season rankings mean so much in October? Why would that be the gold standard for rankings?

I know, I should calm down, it is just October and the last poll is the only one that really counts, but still.

LSU will probably play 3 top ten teams (Oregon, Bama, and Arkansas) plus the SEC championship while OU will just play one team in the top 10, Oklahoma State.

as long we r 1 or 2 after the sec championship game (witch we will be) then it will matter but rite now its just a number. i do agree though we should be ranked ahead of OU because of our schedule.

They're just trying to keep the top 2 SEC teams from getting 1 & 2 spot.

UT is very overated, they will lose a few more games and I wouldn't be shocked if OU drops one or two as well. I'm not feeling the bigXII this year.

LSU vs. Wisconsin on Jan 9th in New Orleans.

Don't worry, as long as we beat Bama we're in... I think Okie State gets the best of OU this year.

They don't want to hear public outcry. OU being number 1 after we beat WVU would leave a lot of people scratching their heads as to how our resume wouldn't have us number 1.

Not having OU number 1 this week would mean massive crying from Sooners everywhere.

Let's worry about beating Tennessee and Auburn. Then we can worry about beating the Gumps. Then we can worry about running the table and winning it all.

Oklahomas big win came to Florida St who has now lost it's third straight game. And against a Texas team that was ranked high purly cause the name Texas and people ahead of them losing.

Oklahoma truly exposed how bad Texas is. Everyone will see "#11 Texas" and think this Oklahoma win was some huge accomplishment though.

I agree that OU has not done anything to lose the #1 ranking....what I can't figure out is what they ever did to get the #1 ranking.

I think LSU's resume speaks for itself and as long as they keep winning it'll all get settled in January!

Good. I don't want to be ranked 1 or 2 until after the SEC championship. I still don't get why people are worried about the polls right know. They are only opinions and itdoes not mean shite. The only thing that maters is who wins the BCS championship.

There is nothing worse in the current college football scene than preseason rankings. They are based off of NOTHING, yet mean so much.

Hell to the frick no. Texas at #11 in the country is absolute horse shite. Absolutely laughable.

No, this pisses me off as well. Even though rankings only count at the end of the year, this is still some absolute bullshite. As I've said multiple times, no other team in the country can even compete on the same field as LSU and Bama, and its a downright SHAME that the TRUE national championship game will be played in November in Tuscalooser.

ABC doesn't have the SEC contract, so they have to say this. OU beat a crappy Texas team -- LSU dominated an upper tier SEC foe -- which counts for more. It's the SEC, just a fact of life.
