It's hard to compare pitchers in my opinion. You have to look and consider the era each pitched in due to the frequent bat changes. I think you have to weigh that option too and not go just on stats.. But Big Ben is definitely my #1...

Nola was the most consistent pitcher I've ever seen at LSU. His stuff may not jump out at you as being dominant, but he can locate all of it. He's probably the best at LSU ever. I'm not saying his pro career will be better or worse than others or that he's going to go #1 like McDonald, but he's been better than all of them at LSU.

Here's where Aaron Nola stands on the all-time lists:
Wins: Tied for 5th at 30 (tied with Ogea, Sirotka, and Moock)
Ks: 3rd at 345 (Scott Schultz and Ben McDonald are #s 1-2)
ERA: Tied for 4th at 2.09, but #1 for any pitcher with over 250 innings
Record books don't have fewest walks, WHIP, or anything. He is Top 3 statistically for all Starting Ps.
BTW, Happy Birthday Aaron!!

He was great but no doubt GOAT is Ben Mcdonald

quote:No. He's been a very polished guy, but he's just the latest in a run of aces from LSU. Ben was better; and then you can look at a number of guys with similar numbers- but who pitched in a much more live-ball era.
