Scott Shultz is still the all time LSU strikeout leader with 409.

Paul Byrd and Chad Ogea were not too bad.

I think he's the best we've had because he was so consistent. Renaudo, Gausman, and even McDonald had some consistency issues.

Base on LSU career only it may be Nola, but I think you should also look at success in the Majors as well. We can't do that for Nola yet, but if he has a great career in the Majors he will be the greatest.

@ByLukeJohnson: If Nola signs professionally, as expected, finished his career with a 2.09 ERA, far and away the lowest by any LSU pitcher w/at least 300 IP

@ByLukeJohnson: Only Allen Smith, who had a 1.82 career ERA in 237.1 IP in the early 60s, had a lower career ERA than Nola, minimum 200 IP

@ByLukeJohnson: Nola's 1.47 ERA this season is the lowest single season ERA in #LSU history by a pitcher who threw at least 100 innings.

Lloyd Peever '92 had the greatest year by far.

"He was named Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year, elected first-team all-American by both the American Baseball Coaches Association and Baseball America magazine, voted first-team all-SEC, selected for the SEC all-tournament team and was named National Player of the Week two times. He went 14-0 with an earned run average of 1.92. He also started the season with 39 straight innings without a walk."

I believe you may have to graduate to get jersey retired. Not 100% but I know LSU has rules on HOF.

He is probably pretty close to graduating. Wouldn't be too difficult to knock that out in an off season.

I'm not saying, he's not one of the greatest of all time, but its apples and oranges. You suck now with an ERA of 3.00. In 1997 you were an AA with a 3.00 ERA.

you compare him to his counterparts of his era. nola has been widely regarded as one of, if not the best pitcher in college baseball the past 2 seasons. very short list of guys who can say that at lsu

I'm sorry but the ball is so much different now that you can't begin to compare. The COR and the seams are completely different. The national BA is down 35 points in four years. We hit 188 homers in 1997 and have hit 164 in the last four years combined. There's really no way to know if Nola stacks up - there's no way to know if anyone stacks up.

UH just won a regional, played 5 games and 48 innings but had just (edit) 6 doubles and 0 HR.

It's not the same game.
