Aaron Nola did something Phillies haven't done since starting play in 1883

Per Baseball tonight the Phillies have been playing baseball since 1883 and tonight was their 20,223rd game and they had never lost 1-0 when the only run was from opposing pitcher hitting home run.
The last time there was a 1-0 win off an American League pitcher's bat was 1962.
Only 6th time in AL history.
Sucks Nola lost this way but if you gotta lose in your debut might as well make it historic.

If I'm a Phillies fan, id be ecstatic right now even though they lost.
Aaron Nola is gonna be special.
Aaron Nola is gonna be special.

Local news here in philly said that 10 pitchers and one reliever have won a game 1-0 where the pitcher hit a home run for the win.

Baseball Tonight crew really loved Nola though and said he is here to stay. One of them had called a game he pitched in the Box for LSU.

Nola is certainly special to LSU fans. his performance last night was very encouraging but i'm not ready to predict him to be a great pitcher. imo, he's likely to be a serviceable starting pitcher(which means he'll still make millions). I say this because his forte', location and changing speeds, takes years to learn and he really doesn't have the ace fastball to bail him out when needed. I think he's ahead of the curve right now and all he needs is more major league experience. get prepared to see him get his nose bloodied at times.

You just described Greg Maddux's career

Didn't even notice that. I thank that's because he whiffed on the joke

Some stat nerd reached way deep to uncover this fact.
