I don't remember the recruiting process but LSU was deep at RB as always. Faulk, Mealey, Cleveland, Collins..........they both weren't going to fit at LSU and as we've seen in recent years we take the questionable guy

my cousin was his godmother and i got to meet him a couple of times through the years before she died. that guy was as classy as they come. came from the worst conditions you can have. everyone called where he grew up the quarters. its pathetic on one hand, but it was really clean there. imagine a ghetto where everyone kept their yard clean and didnt want to look trashy. very odd compared to most similar neighborhoods i have seen.

LMAO, Winnfield.....the quarters......does not compute!

No disrespect intended, but it's funny how Colleges let learning disabilities stop kids by not accepting them, UNLESS they can play a sport.

That's very true, Anthony however had more of a dyslexic type of disability that required he have more time on the ACT. He was in special ed at Winnfield all 4 years because of this.

Ya'll smaller than Natchitoches, I lived in San Diego, BR, been to LA, Jacksonville, Charleston, New Orleans, etc. Winnfield is like one block in the suburbs of San Diego. Now, I'm not hating on Winnfield but it's no Shreveport when it comes to ghetto.

you've obviously never heard of the phrase "on the other side of the tracks". I'm sure San Diego taught you that though

Yet you are clueless about Winnfield and think you are worthy to comment on their ghetto because you lived in "big" cities?

Pathetic.

Oh, that's normal treatment. Dyslexia doesn't mean he's unintelligent. Too often it's undiagnosed and kids just quit, or what's worse, Teachers quit on them.
Kudos to Anthony AND the Faculty at WHS!

The question is, "Would the faculty have quit on him if he were your average student and not a stud footballer?"

I can honestly answer that he would have gotten the same treatment because my grandmother taught him all 4 years in special ed.

I keep hearing this, but remember that Don Jones also sent Joe Domingeaux to LSU when he was coaching at Crowley. I knew someone who coached with Jones and he never mentioned anything about him being anti-LSU. This guy was an LSU alum and a huge LSU fan, and if it was an issue, he would have said something about it.

I think that DiNardo viewed Thomas as a Big 10 style running back and didn't recruit him very hard. Years later when Jones was at Plaquemine High, he had Jakouri Williams and Saban didn't want him. Jones said that he was done with LSU after that. I believe that he was trying to get LSU to go after Jakouri, but Saban wasn't too interested and he went to Tenn.

i have always caught myself hashing this scenario out... if a kid cannot compute basic algebra or sentence structure because of his dyslexia, or other serious learning disability, then there is no shot of him using those skills later in life without a teacher by his side to coach him through it. so it really doesnt help some learning disabled kid to be coddled along to a high school diploma, much less a college degree when he might only be able to do a job with extremely minimal skillsets.

if the kid has extreme athletic ability, then its the obligation of the schools to make sure this kid learns enough to be pushed to the next grade as he might be the only special ed kid with a shot at getting a college degree.

a large enough percentage of athletes come from such shite surroundings that if it werent for their athleticism, college would be laughable, so i dont see it as a negative when the schools spend extra time on these cases. i mean, the schools are focusing on some athlete and they still barely make high enough on the act.

But I think any student diagnosed as Dyslexic would get extra time on the ACT, right?
