I love Coach O and think he'd do great job with D line but it would be too much of a distraction to hire him. I'll bet Lane feels same way.

He’s a wild card, loose cannon, and a decent coach. What he does possess is a unique connection to football players. He would NOT be a good hire for any College program that’s why he didn’t get the USC job. LSU and recruiting is his only fit but his immaturity is his kryptonite. If he can change and do the job then he’s gold but that’s the big question.
We sank almost a 100mill into a Yankee prick that we tried to like but in the end he was just that.
Now we’ve invested another 100mill into another Coach that WE feel has changed but we honestly don’t know. We do know he can Coach.
Investing in O may be risky but he can motivate, communicate, & recruit.
Make it a short leash, a short short leash but at least we know what’s on the end of that leash.

I don't think we can say it's 100 percent his fault the program was in the shape it was in. He definitely let his personal life and bad decisions bleed into his job which is not excusable in any way shape or form in that position. That being said Ryan Clark and Scott Woodward openly set him up to fail over a dumb answer in an interview. He got wrapped up in the Wade/Landry/Woodward beef so he was doomed regardless of anything else.

O and brainstorm shouldn’t be used in the same sentence. He admitted to getting a 10 on his ACT which means that he probably got a 7. I’ll always appreciate him for 2019 and he got comped very well for his service.

Anyone who thinks O isnt an elite DL coach is fricking stupid.
That said, he has had interviews that have killed him for me. We dont need that cancer. He will be rooting for Lane to fall so he can be rescue interim again.
