I dont know what your trying to prove here that Gausmans freshman yr was better?? Thats what it looks like to me genius! His record was worse b/ c of our terrible hitting! Great post Adam??
Good Lord. You are one stupid motherfricker. I feel sorry for your kids with the damn gene cesspool they're being brought into.

McCune will be back in the starting rotation next year.

I hope he can get back to where he was in his first year......but I didn't see any signs of it this year. I think he really needs to show something in summer ball to get a chance in the rotation next year......hell ir he doesn't do something he will join Kevin Berry in the cheering section of the dugout.

I think not playing summer ball last year may have put him behind.

Yep you right.....although with the innings he pitched in his first year I think you had to shut him down.
I'm guessing Eades shuts it down this year and Nola wouldn't surprise me either especially with the issue he had earlier in the year......although he looked real strong at the end as far as velocity and endurance.

These young hitters need instruction. And they're not getting it...at least not at the caliber of what they should be getting.
Right handers need to learn how to poke balls into right field, and left handers need to learn how to drag bunt, or step into a pitch and drive it down the left field line.
These young pitchers are getting instruction from Dunn, and look what it's done for mediocre guys like Cotton...it's turned them into the best arm in our bullpen.
The hitters deserve the same thing. Hopefully Blake Dean will help.

Sadly I wouldn't put money on that. Just because you're a good hitter doesn't mean your a good teacher. There is nothing for me to believe that he can teach others how to hit.

How do any of us know what type of instruction they ate getting as hitters

go look at our "hitting coaches" resume and you tell me. He played a fricking Notre Dame, then in the minors for a couple years. Then was an assitant at LSU for his 1st coaching job under PM and was promoted after Rooney and Godwin left. He's been coaching for like 3 or 4 years. That is not good enough to be the hitting coach at LSU.

Yet we think Dean is going to have a big impact.

I think Eades will go to the Cape and throw 20-30 innings this summer. No way he skips out on that the year before his draft.
Have the summer assignments been released yet?
Also for Adam, one question no one is asking... how long will Dunn be around here? He already has experience as a MLB bullpen coach and Minor League Pitching Director. Plus he coached at Auburn IIRC. Its only a matter of time before some floundering big conference school takes a chance on him. Maybe 2-3 years here to get re-acclimated to recruiting and the college game then off?

our players deserve more than javi and a 26 yr old kid coaching them.

But he loves being a pitching coach. He already left college for the pros and says he loves college more. I don't see him leaving anytime soon

You caan always tell the football fans who are killing time until opening kickoff. They're the ones who don't know jack about baseball, but have opinions about the team out the yang.

His first class at LSU he basically struck a gold mine with the talent he was able to get on campus (07 class). At the time Mainieri had literally no talent in his first year and he sold playing time immediately as well as the chance to play the last year in the old box and first at the new box.
Then came that (09 class) highlighted by Von Rosenberg and Colvin. It was all but signed and sealed at the beginning of August that both would be in school before Von Rosenberg signed two weeks before the deadline and Colvin signing the afternoon he was in freshman orientation. You could feel Paul was in a sense "stabbed in the back" by players who had given their word to stay and signed without informing him. A similar occurrence happened with the (10 class) when Garin Cecchini personally spoke to Mainieri assuring him he wouldn't sign for anything under 1.75 million no matter what and ended up signing for 1.3 million days later.
After the 09 championship Mainieri did let off the gas recruiting wise, handing over a few duties here and there to then recruiting coordinator David Grewe. It's an issue that has long been addressed and fixed.
We're beginning to see a more conservative approach from Mainieri and Dunn in going after high school prospects with that strong faith Dunn can develop and mold raw arms with a ton of projectabiliy. Of course every class will have 2-3 high profile guys but the days of losing 6-8 guys in the draft are over. As long as Alan Dunn is in LSU's dugout the pitching will be in good hands.
This 12' class was a filler class filling the needs on the pitchers mound with young arms and outfielders, so it won't draw a ton of attention nationwide. However Alex Bregman in my opinion will make as big of an impact as DJ LeMahieu has in 08.
Top recruiting classes run in cycles...07 class (#1) 10 class (#1) and the 13 class is shaping up to be very deep, potentially top 3 with bloodlines associated with the program included.
I hope this somewhat answered your question.
Just a fantastic breakdown of how things played out. Thanks.
Look forward to seeing your analysis on the 2013 class.

My only thing is this is the first year he has pitched a full stater's slate after his injury.....he just seemed a little weak these last few outings.
