Just bc he played for LSU and won the Heisman doesn’t excuse his choices

I’ve heard the story probably a dozen times over the years from my mother in law who was at the game. I don’t let her know she has already shared the story with me. I just let her run with it.
My late m-i-l was there too.

She always said she couldn’t believe how fast Cannon was.

You’re a good person to let her repeatedly tell you her story.

Well now I know I’m not the only one from that dorm, floor, and year on TD. Nice to see you here.

Few know that Billy Cannon won the 100 yard dash AND the shot put in the SEC track meet one year. He was fast and crazy strong.

Cannon was either the strongest sprinter or the fastest shot-putter in history.

He was SEC champ in both.

btw - for those who didn't experience that era of players going both ways - Cannot made the stop on the last play of that Ol Miss Halloween game - on the one yard line. (it was at the other end of the field so I didn't get a good look at how close it was - but the crowd went wild again.

Also - Cannon was our punter and field goal kicker - don't recall if he actually did the kick-offs or not - probably did because he was on the field.

Good for you - I repeat some of my favorite stories from time to time. All my kids and grandkids have them memorized by now - but they let me tell them.

But most of the ones I tell are funny episodes where I was the fundamental goof-up - everyone enjoys laughing at me again.

If you’re playing pickleball and call someone an older gentleman, he’s got to be like 200 years old right?
