Well, feel free to set your hair on fire and melt accordingly. I favor a more STURDY approach, which is to calm down and let it play out with this young team. I'm not going into panic, despondency, despair and hopelessness about LSU basketball just yet. I hope you forgive me.

You are getting a lot of downvotes but you are 100% correct. It’s just an honest assessment but some will call it a melt.

It’s becoming more and more challenging to build a solid resume, and with very little evidence of progression so far it’s hard to imagine they will get it together in time to do so. Not to mention I think we lack the physicality that will be required to win on the road in the SEC.

Guess we will see, but there is nothing wrong with an honest assessment so far.

All you are doing is virtue signaling.... look at me, I don’t melt, I’m a true fan. Blah blah. No one gives a frick.

Call it what you want, but I’m lowering my expectations for this season. That’s a more rational perspective than yours. Not upset, just disappointed. I still think there will still be a lot of exciting moments this year.

It's Mid-December...can we hold off on this shite?

Yes, they've blown a couple of chances, but we showed our potential and ability. We have played one bad game and then two games where we have briefly played poorly but we could have won. It's about growth right now.

quote:

Now, there's likely no chance to get one in OOC play, unless you think St. Mary's will be a top 50 team and/or Furman will be a top 30 team at the end of the season (NET rankings). And that's assuming LSU wins both games. WHO you beat matters greatly and right now LSU has ZERO notable wins.

No, it does not. We play in the SEC. It is a good conference this season. You take care of business it does not matter.

quote:

The margin of error for SEC is shrinking to nothing very quickly and asking this, or any team, to run roughshod through the SEC is asking a LOT. And with this teams' deficiencies, weak defense; inability to keep good teams off the offensive glass, they are going to have a lot of trouble winning on the road.

It's not as glaring as you think. The negative attitude is shocking

No, I'm saying consider this new roster, take what you know about sports and chemistry and new rosters and exercise some PERSPECTIVE. Struggling in mid December is NOT the end of 2018-2019 LSU basketball.

See ever since I attended LSU in 2010 the basketball was just awful. I got used to low standards and now if they make the tournament it's a bonus. I don't see how given the history of LSU basketball since the last final four run how you could have high expectations.

But it's the same argument people use explaining LSU QB struggles in their first year. Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, etc. get a new starting five every year and are consistently top 5 programs.

First of all every year is a new roster. Young players are the norm in college basketball. You haven’t provided anything that I would consider an explanation.

I’m not saying it’s the end of the season, I’m simply lowering my expectations. You are acting irrational by not lowering expectations after what we have seen. That’s fine, you just look silly criticizing others.

"Silly' AND "irrational" is making up your mind that the season is lost on December 13.

And FTR, I'm NOT lowering expectations. I simply had more REALISTIC expectations about how the season might go than you guys who inexplicably saw us winning 25 games and being a three seed. This is a team that is going to have to fight for everything it gets. Give them some room to develop and learn to win these games. They'll get there. Just not on your schedule.

During our 05-06 final 4 run, we were 8-5 after OOC play, and we just finished blowing a 15-point lead on the road against a ranked team, Ohio State. Except we were up 15 with 5 minutes left, not 18.

Yeah! I remember watching LSU playing Tennessee, early in the season for Dale Brown when John Williams was a freshman. The Tigers looked slow and sloppy much like last night. I think they were a final four team that season.

What exactly is your definition of suck? I mean, LSU has lost to top 25 teams, not lower ranked teams. They have beaten veteran teams coming off very good season's and made the NCAA tourney. They had significant leads against 2 of the top 25 teams they lost to. I don't see how anyone can say this team sucks. They have issues that need addressing, young players that need experience, a coach still learning his players and the best way to use them and their best player is in a slump, but suck? Maybe you don't really understand what you are seeing when you watch games. IMHO

This board irritates the heck out of me with the attitude that we need to give Ed Orgeron a twenty year extension because he needs more time to build up a ten win team filled with four and five star players to a ten win team filled with four and five star players

But Will Wade who is managing NBA talent for the first time with a rebuild of a program is a crap coach the second he can’t get a team focused. If there’s a coach out of the two who deserves another year to figure it out it’s CWW. Let the basketball season play out and let’s get back to roasting O for not fixing the offense and not recruiting on the D-Line, until baseball season where we can freak out like usual about mid-week let downs against state schools

Last year we had to go on the road to play the eventual national champions, do you think we would have been in that situation if we didn’t lose to:

Southeastern x1
ULL x2
UNO x1

Maybe those games are more important than “just a midweek game”

But it was all over and Fire Will Wade just a week ago. I don’t understand. I mean , crazy that a young , talented team might struggle early and look disorganized . That’s never happened before. Let’s make dire pronouncements and panic and declare the season over!!!

Disgraceful. And this is a man who came close to being pinkslipped after an embarrassing loss to *gasp* Troy.

Losing to Southeastern in any sport is the equivalent to losing to Troy in football, IMHO. Those midweek meltdowns by the men of Maineiri made meaningful our run in the SEC tournament last year. Without it, we would have never made a regional.
