I see a lot of people on here already anointing Daniels the starter and I think that's fine if you think he'll win the job,but it's ignorant to think this qb competition has already been decided. I listened to Daniels' and Nuss' interviews they gave earlier today, and thought both sounded very well spoken. One thing that stood out to me was that Nuss was asked if the coaches had informed him that Daniels would be the starter - Nuss' reaction/response and demeanor led me to believe that the job will be his. Here's a LINK to the interview if you want to watch it and interpret for yourself. Here's my breakdown of the signal callers that we have left on our roster:

Jayden Daniels

Pros
- Throws a very nice deep ball
- Has elite A+ speed
- Runs a great zone read
- Very good at feeling the rush and moving in the pocket
- Has experience as a starter
- Is said to have outstanding rapport with Malik Nabers

Cons
- Has regressed since his freshmen year
- Isn't great at intermediate passing
- Doesn't have the best footwork or throwing mechanics
- Not well liked by his old teammates

My takeaway - If Daniels was as good at passing the football as everyone on here thinks he is, then he would have already been named the starter.

Garrett Nussmeier

Pros
- Has a very high football iq - coach's son
- Accurate passer from all distances and arm angles - can make every throw in the field
- Is mobile enough to give defenses a hard time
- Great at evading defenders moving in the pocket
- Has the IT factor
- Exudes confidence and is the ultimate competitor

Cons
- Doesn't have extensive starting experience
- Tries to win the game on every play
- Risk taker - more likely to turn the ball over

My takeaway - I think Nuss starts against FSU, but if he doesn't, he will end up taking over as the starter at some point during the season.

Walker Howard

Pros
- Has the strongest arm on the team - ball explodes out of his hand
- Most accurate passer
- Has great mobility - is a true dual threat and moves well in the pocket
- Has the most potential and highest ceiling

Cons
- Has no college experience
- Could benefit from more time in the program/weight room

My takeaway - Next season it will be extremely hard to keep Walker off the field. I think unless Nuss comes out this year and absolutely lights the world on fire, Walker Howard will push hard for the starting job.

I thought it was interesting how involved Nuss said that CBK was working with the qb's. We're paying him $9.5 million a year, and I trust him to pick the qb that gives us the best chance of being successful. Whoever our guy is, I will be rooting for him

Being they cleaned out his locker and said he sucked anyways it’s pretty clear.

Your bias in “your takes” is noticeable.

Your cons for Walker and Nuss could be way higher.

You talk about mechanics and accuracy issues for a guy that is a 65% passer call a dude who has never thrown in college and a guy who completed 50%.

I agree, Nuss’ demeanor tells me he is the starter.

Walker and Nuss have better mechanics and a better throwing motion than Daniels

When Daniels announced he was transferring, his teammates made and posted a video of them cleaning out his locker, throwing his stuff away, and saying that he sucked

If the QB competition is close, you start the guy with 3years of experience over the redshirt freshman. Nuss can always come in off the bench if JD struggles early.

I'm not sure why this is getting downvoted, this is an actual fact LINK

Sure, Nuss is great at reading defenses and recognizing coverages, but sometimes he tries to do too much and goes for the home run ball instead of taking a check down

It’s being downvoted because you’re putting stock in the immature reaction of players from a wholly dysfunctional program that was just spurned by its starting QB.

I don’t know why you’d give that more weight than what current LSU players have to say about him.

How do you know this if he’s constantly trying to go for the home run ball on every play?

Again.... how is he so smart but tries too hard to make big plays when he can read defenses so well???

Did you even read what I wrote? I said he has great rapport with Malik Nabers. I put equal weight into his relationship with ASU players and his current teammates, I think you're just looking for something to whine about
