Throw out whatever stats you want. Look at Vegas. -1.5 spread for Bama.

This game could go either ways. If you disagree - you're only doing so to try and re-assure yourself that your team will win.

Out of 10 games, I could see either team winning 5/10. It's even. Period.

It's certainly enough of an argument to dispel the belief around here that LSU is going to waltz into Tuscaloosa and curb stomp Alabama, dont you think?

I think you guys are proving that you have the same line of thoughts that most if not all sportscasters had regarding our quarterback and suspension issues.

Those of us in the know knew it was no hill for a climber, with the horses we have who are ready.

You guys are going to find that out. At least the bookies admit all the money is going on LSU.

Key matchups:
1) LSU inside defensive line vs. Bama center and guards
2) LSU tight end (as a receiver) vs Bama linebackers

stats do not mean a team is better. the teams you beat does not mean your better. If LSU beats Alabama then LSU was the better team. Period

Bama and LSU are close stat-wise in the conference. Comparing our performance against Oregon's defensive ranking and Bama's against Penn State's is a useless comparison. How can you compare teams like that mid-season, especially when you're talking about out of conference opponents who gained their stats by playing teams we never will? Completely useless, and even more useless mid-season.

I've watched every LSU game this year and all but 3 of Bama's games. Nobody can predict the future but I'm not even worried about this one, just excited!

this wasn't at the OP.. it was at this:
quote:

I'll bite, and raise you:

West Virginia - #70 ranked defense
Kentucky - #88 ranked defense
Northwestern St - not ranked

Highest ranked defense each team has faced:

Penn State - #4 ranked defense
Oregon - #18 ranked defense

What would LSU's stat line look like if you take the last drive the other team had in the 4Th quarter when Les subbed everyone out? At the end of almost every game, after LSU had secured victory. The opponent would have a long drive that would swell their offensive numbers. Another thing, because the Tigers are so good at penning the other team deep, they almost always had a short field to work with. You can't get a lot of yards when you consistently only have to drive 50 for a touchdown.

Bama has played some real pussies so far this year too.

Wow. Impressive.

They must have a lot more passing TDs than LSU, I suppose, right?

I think the home field advantage argument should be dispelled for this game....LSU has proven it plays well on the road, in big game atmospheres, and with prep time.

Everyone wants to look at yards and compare offenses. While this is a nice stat as far as balance for bama, to highlight LSU's stat along with it doesn't take into account the field position advantage that LSU's offense started with bc of the strong turnover ratio of our defense. Our offense moves the ball and scores but doesn't put up the yardage. Check our PPG and redzone offense. These are better measures than our yardage.

A win by how many points is a 'Curb Stomp' in the SEC?

when the game is over. all this stat shite is getting out of hand. stats do not win football games. these two teams are pretty damn close in both talent and ability to execute. there is not a big difference in the experience levels either. lsu's defensive stats are skewed somewhat by playing 2 very strong passing teams and the chief's strategy in those games. lsu's offensive stats are skewed by strategy and OL injuries. and each team has played different opponents. i am sure bama has had some factors skewing their stats as well. the point i am trying to make is that past stats make absolutely ZERO DIFFERENCE in the outcome of this game. it will be determined by human performance mano a mano with an opponent not seen on the field yet this year. add the usual variables (penalties, turnovers, breaks, coaching adjustments, etc) and we will have a game that cannot be determined by these worthless stats people are throwing about.
