Because it didn't take 3 or 5

Agree.

If the refs hadn't screwed up the pp7 int on 09 wouldn't les and Sabah be tied in head to head 4-4.

Lsu played Bamako damn strong last year just a few bad plays here and there kept lsu from winning and possibly being in the national championship instead of Bamako.

I remember the hall an years. Go CLM.

They are easy to sniff out, they say things about game day decisions, etc...as if results don't matter. As if EVERY ounce of success is the result of some fluke.

I'll never understand someone begrudging someone else for improving their own employment situation. Or in this case, doing what any successful coach in the country would've done.

At least he didn't fake an illness, blame his family, and quit on his team.

it was a slive/al plant in the replay booth.
that game was STOLEN. slive is the guilty party b/c he continues to support all the al graduates in the sec offices.

I pray that a non-biased person replaces slive.
lsu has been screwed by the sec/slive and is still being screwed.

Les Miles - 1 play and 1 ridiculous decision for a BCS Natty Bid away from having LSU as THE DYNASTY

We make 1 play with a defense full of Sunday starters in Death Valley - at Night. We play and LSU wins Natty.

If BCS computer spits out OSU like it should - LSU wins Natty.

Saban is considered the greatest coach ever. We are THAT close to having 3. Its as close as you can be. It is hard as hell to stay at the top like that. NOW - add in the Florida game and Bama's Schedule BS. Florida would have bit Bama a couple times

The argument can be made that given the schedules - Les has had more success vs. top teams.

We make 1 play. BCS spits out OSU we are the dynasty.

Les is doing a hell of a job.

i'm guessing the first two excuses are meyer and the third is saban.
but, was that guy saying it was bad for miles to negotiate b/c of arky (proven that he had already been promised a raise,) but, ok for saban to lie and xmas surprise lsu to improve his status at Miami? i'm so confused w/ these hypocrites. - saban can screw lsu but miles can't get a raise???

There is nothing unprofessional about what he did. But it didn't feel right. I'm not the only one that feels that way.

Very few agree with how Saban handled the situation. He should have been more upfront about it. So there's no hypocrisy really. More consistency than anything else.

Main negative for me is the game day coaching. Oh, so one of the most important parts of being a coach.

You mean the part about actually winning most of the games?

A friend for decades asked Les if he would talk with him about the vacant Arkansas head coach job.

Les talked to him and said thanks but no thanks.

LSU was coming off a two year period of 24-3 which was the most wins in college football, our first undefeated SEC and regular season in 50 years, and our second BCSCG appearence in five years.

Joe and LSU would have been an idiot not to have given Les some show of love.

Les would have been an idiot not to say I'll take it and thanks.

Anyone holding that out as some kind of big deal is an idiot.

Les had a very generous contract with LSU that was highly negotiated. He agreed to comply with it and was happy with it.
Petrine was canned, one of Les' longtime friends (ark ad) called to see if Les would talk to them about the job. Les, instead of honoring his contract, and saying "no" , played along and contacted Alleva.
VOila: better contract terms.
Have some coaches elsewhere played this game, and leveraged better terms? Of course.
Is it ethical, loyal and does it go down well?
From where I sit, no, no and no.
I had a different view of Les' character after this...

I wish he'd keep his foot on the throttle and go for the throat more often but with that, I understand not every game should be a blowout. Having said that, I love him as LSU's coach.

I think he's a damn good coach who will never quite get the accolades he deserves largely bc he had the misfortune of being in the same division with Saban and on the receiving end of the great mulligan.

The two-loss NC, the ugly offenses, the constant close games seemingly regardless of opponent...all that would be disregarded if the 2011 team got the NC it deserved.

Sometimes people seem to forget that an employment contract is a MUTUALcommitment of loyalty for the whole term.
Les negotiated a term, but decided to consider Arky overtures well prior to the end of the term. He agreed not to pursue talks with other if , wait, LSU would commit to him for an even LONGER term.
Alleva deserves at least half the blame for going along.
Strictly opinion: les' friend at Arky never thought Les would be interested ( and he wasn't) but created the charade to permit Les to negotiate some goodies.
