You retard..with 1 out or less your waiting to see ball threw or to the right side. With 2 outs you’re going that’s simple

Here's a thought:

You break for home on any ground ball contact. If the defense makes a good stop and a good throw home, you stop, get in a run down and allow the batter to run all the way to second base. (Exactly like Jones did)

With two outs a runner at 3B likely needs a base hit to score from 3B. With two outs and a runner at second base you likely need a base hit to score the runner from 2B.

So you don't lose much from breaking hard on any ground ball and forcing the defense to make a play.

Scared baseball is just sitting on 3B hoping for a ball to the outfield.

It’s funny that you think the coach didn’t tell him exactly what to do when he got to 3B

Anyone down voting the op and saying he should go home on a ground ball to third is an idiot and letting all know they have NEVER played at any level.

Anyone thinking like you are is showing that you never played ball past little league. People that played ball at upper levels of baseball know the base running rules and are trying to teach you.

That’s where I stopped reading and understood that the poster has never played competitive baseball past high school.

Jones made the right decision with 1 out. Go on first contact. Hitter gets to 2B. No loss. Hit scores the runner.

You are showing that you have never paid attention to a baseball game when we break for home on ground ball contact with one out about 98% of the time. Been doing it for years. Skip Bertman, Smoke Laval, Paul Mainieri, Jay Johnson. All do it the same.

If Jones didn’t move from third, Bingham would have been thrown out at first bc he hit a rocket right to the third baseman. It would have 2 outs either way. The only difference is that one scenario has us with two outs and Jones at third. The other scenario was Bingham at 2B with two outs.

When we saw it live, you could see it play out correctly. Everyone did the right thing including Mac going to 2nd.

Nope. And just because you keep saying I am…doesn’t make it true

But keep trying! I know the level of baseball I made it to vs you and the other posters on this board

Ground balls to the right side are the exact same distance from home plate as ground balls to the left side.
