Congrats. What a turnaround for Shemiah, from losing playing time early to 1st team all-conference.

They must have voted prior to last weekend.

These selections are curious...

In what world is Amanada Sanchez not 1st team All-American, much less 1st team All-SEC??? Her splits are .400/.570/.696, yielding an OPS of 1.266. Not to mention 52 RBIs.

Same with Sunseri... .372/.500/.825 yielding a 1.325 OPS. 16 HRs and 56 RBIs. 2.28 ERA in 110 innings.

I'm happy for Shemiah but her stats pale in comparison to those two. .297/.400/.681 with 17 HRs and 45 RBIs. I'm not saying she does or does not deserve 1st team but there's no way she should be ahead of Amanda and Sunseri.

Even Andrews... .383 average with 45 SBs is pretty impressive for 2nd team...

In fairness, I have not researched any of the players from the other teams so I have no idea who is the competition. Like I said, I just don't know how Amanda and Sunseri aren't unanimous 1st team All-Americans, much less 1st team All-SEC...

I just looked up the stats for the 2 girls picked ahead of Sunseri...

Kendyl Lindaman - .354/.473/.659 yielding a 1.132 OPS with 14 HRs and 50 RBIs. And didn’t pitch at all…

Fa Leilua - .369/.432/.825 yielding a 1.257 OPS with 22 HRs and 50 RBIs. And didn’t pitch at all…

As I suspected, sheer robbery...

The article on lsusports.net lists all SEC-only stats for all of the players. It's obvious that whoever picked these teams used SEC-only stats because the teams align very closely with the SEC-only stats. There is merit it to that being that it is the all-SEC teams. Although it's a smaller sample size too so I would necessarily agree that it is the correct manner to do it.

I still think Amanda and Sunseri should be unanimous 1st team All-Americans...

It seems like the honors are based on short-term memory alone. Shemiah has probably been the hottest player at the plate the last few weeks to a month.

If this had been voted on a month ago Amanda Sanchez probably would have made 1st team along with possibly Shelbi.

It has been insane that Shelbi has not gotten credit the entire season for being both a hitter AND pitcher

Look up the SEC-only stats for your answer.

I honestly thought Sunseri would have made 1st team all SEC for the DP/Utility honor. She in my opinion has not gotten the credit that she deserves all year.

Amanda Sanchez would have easily been on the first team but she did absolutely nothing the last 4 SEC series to end the year. She has been completely non existent since the South Carolina series. For her numbers to still be that high despite such a sluggish last 5 weeks showed how well she hit all year and first part of SEC play! Not saying anyone had a bad year but just saying why I think Amanda is on the 2nd team!

Since it's an All-SEC team the conference numbers are used exclusively in the selection of the name, discarding some of the inflated numbers some kids can put up based on their teams that choose to play against cream-puff nonconference opponents.

Proud of the ladies. Just hated seeing them get swept by Bama. Imagine Beth Torina felt the same

Sunseri got screwed. Andrews and Amanda S are very deserving along with LSUs best posiiton player Serrett. Shemiah S is a liabilty on defence but she gets the sympathy votes and can get some hits. Wicersham and Stewart had great freshman seasons.

I think Bourg stepping in early in ooc play put a lot of pressure on shemiah to step up her game and she did in conference play. I was okay with the SEC honors just thought sunseri was much deserving for all she did hitting and pitching

Competition really goes a long way in making kids better.

Weather is bad in college station rn. Looks like it will let up then rain even more soon

Your obsession with her brother clouds your judgment if you think the leader in RBIs and co-leader in HRs in conference play only got on the 1st team because of sympathy votes.

Walton should've know he didn't have the luxury of sitting Barnhill and now USC is bombing on them.
