did the regular season occasionally end in early December?

1985 versus East Carolina was December 7. That one sticks out in my memory because it seems like it was during finals or maybe the dead week before finals.

I was at both games. I was 6 but I loved the Tigers and I HATED that Tulane beat us. I remember the 1982 game too. Ouch.

My 13 year old self was there.

The next days started my Tulane hatred!

Before this game I was a LSU, Saints, and Greenwave fan. In that order. I would talk all three with anyone. The LSU-Tulane week and the next week after the LSU victory, I’d leave them be.

That Sunday, several cousins called and ragged me. That Monday, several soon to be ex friends ragged me for a week.

Today I hope Tulane University is bulldozed for an Audubon Park expansion across St. Charles!

What was Tulane stadium like?
It was a fine stadium for its time. It held about 81,000 fans and could get very loud when packed, especially when people would stomp on the metal floors. The Saints would pack it often. Tulane packed it when they played LSU.

It had no frills whatsoever which was the norm at the time, but it was atmospheric and I kind of miss it.

I was an LSU student watching that miserable 1982 game played in the slop.
