I'm just going to go by memory here from being at the game, so Im sure it wasn't exactly 10:00. But the point is, BH6 had just completed a nice pass on 3rd and long to make it 4th and short.

I was stunned that they sent out the punt team - it made no sense. Of course, Arkansas scored before we ever got the ball back. How can you justify not trying to get 3 yards when you're down 2 scores in the 4th?

They had already quit. He was just making it official at that point.

That was incredibly shocking and infuriating. The only explanation is that CLM quit.

Yeah I didn't see too many people posting about that on here, but to me it was the worst coaching blunder of the night. Who cares what down it is - when you're behind by 14 in the fourth you use every down you have.

If we score on that drive, it becomes a one possession game...

They quit in the 3rd quarter of the Bama game. The coaching staff has to get them unquit with the quickness or many of them could be packing boxes at Christmas.

Do you mean down by 10, 4th and 8 on LSU 46 at 11:15 ?

Right after LSU D had limited the previous Ark drive to 20 yards and a punt?

Well within the range for punter to pin Ark inside the 5?

Versus giving the opponent a possible 46 yard field to TD compared to a 80 yard field?

With 11:15 on the clock and only 2 scores needed to win a TD with PAT and a FG?

Hell, with a single FG Ark would have made it a 2 TD game not a 2 possession game. turning the ball over on the 46 means Ark would only need to get 15 yards to reasonably make the FG.

At that point of the game with 4th and 8 it was the correct decision.

I mean you may still disagree with the decision but lets not do so with incorrect facts.

Looks like you scared off the cockroaches by boom roasting them with facts.

They hate facts.

I actually thought a similar decision in the Alabama game was much worse. Down 20 with 12 min to go LSU punted to Bama from around the fifty. I know I don't have the exact facts. The only reason this was not as glaring an offense was Bama fumbled a couple of plays later resulting in a Foutnette TD.

Thank you for posting that.

So it was the right decision to punt. Got it.

The frightening thing is - as poorly as we played in the first half against Bama, we were doing well enough to have the momentum coming out of the locker room after the half. And - with 1 play, the team seemingly quit on the season.

Bizarre.

meh

The truth is that you had false hope that we had momentum and that things were turning around when, in fact, the team was physically dominated in the first half...scored 10 quick points to make it close.

The turnover just seems like the turning point. The reality is that Bama continued to dominate physically throughout the game. The defense was worn down. And, the floodgates opened.

I don't think anyone quit.

I didnt remember it being 4th and 8 but maybe it was. We had 3rd and long and ran a route that was short of the 1st down marker.I thought it was 4th and 5 but was at the game and didnt have the best of view. Anyway, I looked at the clock and the scoreboard and thought to myself, if we gonna win this game we need to move the sticks. Not a good chance of us getting a stop on them quick enough to win the game. I could give a damn if we lose by 10 or lose by 30, just thought if we gonna win the game we gotta make a move now. When we punted i felt like the coaches gave up. I know the team damn sure did after that.
