If we look back at LK’s decisions at OM to “go for it” on 4th down in his own territory due to analytics, we scoffed at the decisions even though they usually worked out.

LK has not yet done that at LSU, despite having numerous opportunities.

With the fan base beating him up over NOT going for it on 4th and 1, he now has carte blanche to do his thing…without fear of being second guessed…”you guys hammered me for not going for it against Kentucky”.

Let’s ride!

I think he expected our defense to play better than that. Nobody was complaining because everyone felt the same way. That it was easier to lose on a failed 4th down than it was relying on the defense. Hindsight and all that.

Just because we technically could’ve won on 4th down doesn’t mean we should have gone for it in that situation.

What is more telling than the 4th&1 call is the 1st-3rd calls….
They didn’t call between thevtackles running plays.

It’s Kentucky!
LSU should be able to go 2 tight, power I, and still blow Kentucky off the line run between the tackles and get 2 first downs to ice the game.

People are making a huge deal about the 4th down call…. The problem is they were scared to run between the tackles on 1st through 3rd down.

If I was an offensive linemen, and my coach made that call, I’d be pissed, and hurt that they don’t believe in me. Then I’d take a long hard look at myself, and ask why why they don’t believe in me…
