Amazing what a manager can do with great coaches under them. Only problem is he doesn't have a great DC under him this year and it shows big time.

Speedy while true, here are some other numbers..
Miles vs Meyer..2-2..two close wins at home by 4, holding them off late..two totally in-control routs at The Swamp by UF, even if LSU gift-wrapped one of them.
Miles vs Richt..0-2..both by double-digits despite one being at home & one in UGA Dome..
Miles vs Saban 1-1..both close games, despite LSU owning the talent edge twice.
Miles vs Tubby 3-1..all close games..LSU more talented all four years..yet all life-and-death..one requires 5 missed FGs..one a bad generous spot by the refs for LSU & then great last-second TD toss..one against LSU by hosejob refs and stubborn HC into 8-in-box all day.
Miles vs Nutt..2-2..Nutt 2-0 in Tigerstadium last 2 yrs..LSU vastly more talent all four years.
Miles vs Fulmer 2-1..all very close games..LSU vastly more talent all three games.
That's a whopping 10-9 ledger vs the SEC's Best HCs/Programs, despite having on average the talent edge sans the UF/UGA tilts being equal or less, and being in LSU's greatest window of winning ever.
LSU has now lost 4 of their last 5 SEC games in Tigerstadium.

Yep, way to ride out that previously well-coached talent. Now that it's gone, you still see talent, but the coaching is conspicuously absent. What a waste.
Hopefully a good DC can make up for this ineptitude.

this does not describe the 2006 UF-LSU game

why not bring up the close nature of the 2005 and 2006 games? you did for other comparisons

I think the records should go like this:
Miles 3-0-1
Tubberville 0-3-1
Refs 1-0
obviously the 1 is a game that for all intents and purposes shouldn't seriously be considered when comparing coaching ability

I listed that it was gift-wrapped, aka refs blowing Hester TD run, then following JR fumble, WR tipped pass Ints, fumble on kickoff to start 2nd Half, more WR tipped Ints,etc..
Yet despite all the shoulda-coulda-woulda, the game was pretty much controlled all the way by Fla, once LSU fumbled away the oppurtunity to take that 14 pt lead. And most oddsmakers and sharpies all thought that LSU was everybit as good as that UF team, all year, and by Jan-1st.
Too bad they were hosed by Miles running into 8-in-the-box all day at Aubie with a pudgy slow hurt Vincent, and the refs jobbing LSU all day in all ways, instead of JR in shotgun picking on that Frosh DB from Monroe inserted 15 minutes 'til gametime from jumpstreet like SOS, Meyer, and Saban would've..it cost LSU a second look on a neutral field vs Fla a few months later..and possible BCSCG berth.
Jimbo Fisher also blamed Miles on Finebaum for that game, not that he has any good alibis either.
And yes, more close games by much lesser overall talented teams vs Miles LSU in '05 and '06 with Nutt's teams, sans McFadden and Jones being standouts, one by 2, the other needing a Trindon 100 yard return to put on ice.

what you fail to point out is that miles' teams have been as good as any team in the country over the last 3 years. obviously, he's doing something right despite your myopia.

I state facts, mere facts.
And yes, from 2005 to 2007, I'd put any three of those LSU teams up against most anyone in the country very confidently, though our 2005 Offense would concede notable edges to Texas/USC's Offensive PPG, but LSU had the much greater Defense than those two teams.
I'm a hardcore LSU fan, go to the games home and away, but am no apologist, and do not own P&G glasses..not one single pair.

Managing previously well-disciplined players is not coaching. Archer did it. And like Archer, when said well-coached talent was gone, the real deal was exposed.
shite, at least Archer can make the legit excuse that he was the shittiest recruiter in LSU history.

Gets behind to mediocre teams, makes b.s. hires, pathetic game manager and wants to turn us into Big 10 team. All numbers are good, but reality is that those are all in the past.
