Get a first down and the game is over. A&M has a shaky secondary and Burrow is having a good night throwing the ball. A&M has no timeouts. Why wouldn’t your trust Burrow to throw the ball with the instruction “only throw if it’s open. If not, eat it and we’ll punt”?

I literally just posted the same thread. It's truly mind bottling

This right here is where we lost the game. Unbelievably shitty drive.

O and E should have thrown it, and try to ice the game. This and the 3 plays at the 8 in OT 4 in which we should have used the 1/2 back pass to 44 to again win it. Bad conservative sequences. Regrets and on the coaches.

We haven't trusted Burrow all season. It's partly because he's an average QB and mostly because our offensive coaching staff is thoroughly outmatched.

You call a 5 yard route. If it’s not there just tuck and run.

No difference than calling a hand off and losing yards.

It was incredibly stupid

“Yeah, mind-bottling. You know, when things are so crazy it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle?”

But it does boggle the mind how very not clutch this offensive playcalling has been.

Extremely conservative playcalling and philosophy. LSU was soft in crucial moments sunny

No doubt. Hell, Burrow was tucking and running a ton last night, so surely he would have done the same there.

I don't think the result is any different, but the fact we don't even try is infuriating.

I was thinking the same thing at the time. Safe, easy throw or tuck it.

I also know, unfortunately, if they had called a pass play and the receiver dropped it, stopping the clock, this board would be filled with posters saying what a stupid call it was. It's just the way people are.

I'd rather lose trying to make a play than lose "trying not to lose" and playing so safe. There are times to be conservative but the 2.5 minute left offensive possession was not one of them and also in 4th OT with 1st and goal and a TD wins it.
