Try and read the rule again numbnuts. Sounds like there were more than 2 players involved in the play in question and the rule states when two players or MORE make a play on the ball simutalneously (including batting it), it is not PI.

Ummm... the major problem with your interpretation is that the defender who batted the ball WAS NOT FLAGGED FOR A PENALTY. So, I agree, that player did not commit PI. In fact, no one has argued he had. It's the guy with his arms around the receiver who has a bit of a problem.

Both players have a "right" to the ball, but that one is closer or in the path does not mean its his ball, it is a free ball. Having a defender with a better shot at catching the ball does not nullify pass interference.

I can't believe you brought this up, this still hurts my friend. It was holding for sure and PI if a hurried/mis-call. The flag should never have been picked up.
