1) UW did not score in the 2nd half until the 5:24 mark of the 4th quarter. True, they missed a field goal, but that was set up by bad pass interference call on Taylor.

2) Every time LSU's offense sputtered, it involved Jefferson NOT throwing the ball to covered receivers. He either took the sack, scrambled for positive yards or threw it away.

3) After UW's field goal, LSU answered with an excellent drive. 60+ yards in 6 or so plays ... Option to KW left, then Lafell for the 1st. Option again to KW for 8 more, then Jefferson stays in the pocket, looks off receiver, then hits Tolliver. KW up the middle to the 5 yard line, then TD pass to Lafell, Jefferson rolling out of the pocket.

Don't know what else you'd want.

Honestly, that was the worst announced game ive ever seen. They were butchering names left and right, and the camera kept cutting to the announcers while they were talking random bullshite and we'd miss the play.

I don't know how many times I saw a flag and never found out what the call was because the announcers were talking about Locker and last year or some bullshite.

And I didn't even get to see Tolliver's first TD catch live because I had to watch Jesse Palmer's arse talk about the "Fighting Tebows"

Couple that with the fact that Washington played a hell of a game and kept it close and I was in a pissed off mood last night lol.

4) Other than the td UW got on the last play, LSU's D gave up one field goal in the 2nd half.

Seems to me LSU made it's big improvement from 1st half to 2nd half.

Any one got UW's 3rd down conversions in 2nd half. I suspect it's not as bad as most here believe.

We won (on the road no less)!

But that's just not enough for some people.

not sure, but several of them came on one long drive that finally died with them out of field goal range. they called a hell of a game and locker can elude pressure and fire an accurate pass. i hope our guys will get more confidence and not play so soft in the future. however, looked to me our D didn't want to give up the big play.

I loved this. Honestly, I think the biggest issue was....how do you plan for that? New coach with a talented team (I don't care what you say, it's not like we played Western Kentucky).

It seemed like Chavis planned a neutral, conservative scheme that possibly had some adjustability (is that a word) built into it. I liked what I saw in the second half.

Found em. W was 7 of 9 on 3rd Downs in the first half. That is horrendous (for us).

Total was:
Third-Down Conversions 11 of 19

By my math .. 4 of 10 3rd down conversions for W in the 2nd half.

I'm tellin you LSU played a damn respectable 2nd half; it's just lost cuz the 1st half was not.

I'm not saying we dominated, but if you re-watch the 2nd half without suffering throught the 1st, I think some might find a lot of good.

Correction on #2) Everytime the offense sputtered it was because we ran too many running plays up the freaking gut for about 0 yards.

Actually, you're wrong. Up the middle almost always went for positive yardage. On 2nd down, Jefferson dropped to pass, found no receiver, and was sacked by the nose guard on a stunt. On 3rd down, no open receiver, so he chunked it out of bounds. (one example)

Also, now i'm talking 2nd half, but CS up the middle had some nice runs (as well as some little two yarders), but KW on the option outside and on a counter play up the middle was lopping off 5 to 8 yards a carry.

CS softened UW up, KW's fresh legs were apparent in the 4th Q.

1st series, 2nd half:

JJ to Dickson on 1st down, 9 yards.

JJ on 2nd, in shotgun, no running backs, all receivers covered, takes the sack.

JJ on 3rd, no open receivers, chunks it out of bounds.

3 and out, but nary a single running play, much less up the middle.

2nd series, 2nd half

Scott up the middle for 3.

Lafell, bubble screen, 1st down.

KW up the middle, one yard.

Pass to TT, 8 yards.

Announcers still suck.

Scott up the middle on 3rd and one: 8 yards.

JJ takes call from side, keeps it after fake handoff, pick up of 8. He's only 19 years old.

TH off tackle for one yard.

JJ keeps on option, lunges for first down.

JJ is from Louisiana. The announcer said so.

Lyle Hitt with the head tag to Dlineman: offsides W.

JJ takes call from sideline, fakes to TH, corner blitzs, TT open for the catch, the juke and the TD.

All in all, this drive was impressive. There were runs up the middle, but also a lot more. Playmakers included CS, TH, KW, TT, RD, JJ. Crowton / JJ spread the ball around.

At one point in the second half a stat popped up saying UW was: 10-14 on third down.

So early second half they were 3-5, 60% conversion percent is still not very good at all.

Later in the second half is where UW sputtered in 3rd down conversions.

Best description ever. Seriously. I think the whole game plan was just that. Neutral and conservative. I believe the playbook will start to open up the next few games and by the time we get to UGA, things will be looking much better.

I needed to check to make sure I was still at TD.com while reading this.

One more thing...if UW doesn't drive down the field scoring the last TD, then I think we'd be reading a few more threads about how Chavis adjusted well in the 2nd half. Of course, there would still be rantards saying Chavis and Miles should be left in Washington as well.
