As long as they’re just doing conditioning drills, I don’t really care who misses practices. When they start doing actual game prep is when you’d like to see full participation.

Yep. this will be important in a couple of weeks. Until then it's just rest.

Why turn a minor injury into a nagging one?
Exactly. They will be playing with minor injuries the entire season. Why exacerbate a minor injury now?

On 104.5 just now LSU AD Scott Woodard made a point of mentioning LSU’s bumps and bruises several times on air, but also said he likes what he’s seen from the LSU Tigers so far.

How many starting camps at LSU that many of us can recall had this many absentees? Yes, we’re old forts, but we’re wise old forts.
Well Miles you shut down camp to the media after 3 practices so they could have had just as many but we wouldn’t have known about it.
To me a lot of this is coming for the BR sports media making a big deal about it. There isn’t much to talk about but who is and who isn’t on the practice field and they have to talk about something Until the season starts.

Saying they were resting wouldn’t sound very good so they go with minor injuries. Both are about equally truthful

All right, dude.

I’m all for recovery but if they need a couple of days off after less than a week of practice doesn’t sound like they came to camp in shape.
A strained hamstring or strained knee, for example, has nothing to do with not being in shape. Bumps and bruises also have nothing to do with being in shape. Just an FYI...

Why risk a turning a thigh bruise into something that can linger for a long time by constantly straining it while continuing to practice? Or continuing to practice on a sore ankle when you can take a couple days off and recover?
With Guys like Delpit and Chaisson, it’s not worth the risk. They are definitely already “in shape”. No reason to turn a small injury/soreness into something more.

For the love of Gawd.
This is not your daddy’s training camp anymore:
1. These dudes don’t wait until fall camp to get into shape. That is the old way. Today, these dudes train all year round.
2. These dudes were “practicing “ all summer in the schemes. The team leaders were teaching the plays / techniques, etc. Coaches were not present. But, the schemes we’re being practiced.
3. These dudes have sensors all over. They are tracked for hydration, hits (especially head), acceleration, etc. if anything is detected- they are given a day or two to recover - all the while learning in the video room while being given care.
4. In the wake of such tragedies as Maryland death, they take these things seriously.
Back to #1. These dudes are already in shape, are getting enough reps, etc. We can relax. Camp is changing because technology is changing and training is changing.
Great post. Unfortunately, logic doesn't always work on some who are convinced this means the season is doomed because 30 years ago NO ONE missed days in training camp.
This is a veteran team with a lot of returning starters. Getting them to the season in optimal health is more important than them missing a few days of reps IN WEEK ONE OF CAMP. You sit guys now with minor issues because once you get closer to and into the season, it's less advantageous to do so. Plus, it's not as if they are missing the meetings. Football has become a highly cerebral game and O himself made it a point to move away from the long grueling practices Miles was known for. All the practice reps in the world don't mean shite if you players are too beat up to perform in the game.
If this were the Thursday before the Texas game and 24 guys were out then we'd have cause for concern. But, over three weeks before the first game? Calm down

Logic doesn’t always work with some in our fan base? Okay I’ll agree. But I just listened to the one whose logic is all superior, Scott Woodard and he seemed a tad bit concerned about the number of bumps and bruises at LSU camp. He’s been there every day.

Young guys need reps. Vets need less reps and more cautionary breaks imo. I have faith n the staff. Same thing happened last fall camp and when it was said and done the team was healthy and dominant against Miami

I'd say it's a testament to how hard the starters worked on installing the offense/defense all Summer by themselves. If the coaches weren't comfortable with their level of knowledge on the playbook, they wouldn't be sitting them for very minor injuries.
