As long as the guys in the freshman class are patient, most of them have a route to starting their sophomore year.
I know Johnson had some success with redshirting guys in the past. Kobe Kato was one at Arizona. TJ Friedl at Nevada, though his redshirt year was Johnson’s last year there.
Word is Haddad will redshirt.
Leto, Stevenson, Pearson likely wouldn’t, but they’re going to have to take a development route and be okay with not starting 50 games as freshmen.

And that’s been a problem in the past

I updated it today and it looks like most of the kids are finished playing this summer.

I think your attrition will come from this group to get down to the 40
Safford (only 4 hits in summer ball)
Cranford
Brady
Fowler (did not have a good summer)
Money (has decent stuff, can he harnass it?)
A logjam of catchers:
Wyeth
B Doughty (has an extra year due to COVID)
Travinski (hurt may miss part of season)
Milazzo (if McManus and Priester take his playing time)-think he stays though
These four players will have decisions to make if they can't crack lineup:
Jordan Thompson (if someone else emerges at SS)
Gio (if he isn't projected starter in CF)
Bianco (if he gets crowded out)
Beloso (if he doesn't project to play)
Drost (did not have a good summer)
Vietmeire is another with extra year but he did graduate so maybe he wants to move on

Here are some additional Pitching Stats that better showcase what these kids did this summer, even if the sample size was small.

I don't follow the summer ball too much, so if someone could answer this for me. Is the competition equal for all these players? Are some playing in harder leagues?

Sort, MFer, learn to use it.

Wyeth, Travinsky and Doughty have no shot. Maybe Dougty sticks as a bp guy still.
It's Milazzo, McManus or Priester and will be interesting to watch.

I'm afraid Beloso's days are done. I like the kid. Not sure how the switch flipped off for him.
Jordan's a lock at SS for this year. Only one who will push him would be Simon. IMO it's Thompson/Simon at SS/2B and maybe that flips later in the year or if one of them struggles at the plate Merrifield might sneak in at 2B.

I think it's Doughty at 2nd
and Berry will hold down 3rd assuming he can handle it defensively
I also think Doughty could be back at 3rd some and possibly Bianco at 2b or CF
Gio needs to become much more consistent
Pearson is another guy that could reps in possibly RF or DH and you can move Crews to CF
It will be an interesting fall for position players and how it all shakes out

Is there a reason you didn't add in playoff stats or that you didn't use Gause's stats from the Appy League?

Also, what ever happened to Crews after he ran into the wall chasing a fly ball? He never played again and nothing showed up on the website, twitter or his personal twitter?

I feel like I saw something in one article somewhere that it was just a minor injury, it was just a one line thing with no details and I don't remember where I saw it.
