You have to play teams that are ranked high to get a shot at the playoffs. Having them at home is huge.

Future SEC schedules were announced about four years ago. Cynical to think it's set up years in advance to help the Gumps. Think about it. Tennessee is their permanent, and UGA is the only decent team in the east. So that leaves a high chance of playing weak team in the east.
2019 - Bama vs SC, LSU vs Vandy
2020 - Bama vs UGA, LSU vs SC
2021 - Bama vs Florida, LSU vs UK
2021 - Bama vs Vandy, LSU vs Tennessee
2019 - Bama vs SC, LSU vs Vandy
2020 - Bama vs UGA, LSU vs SC
2021 - Bama vs Florida, LSU vs UK
2021 - Bama vs Vandy, LSU vs Tennessee

The "bridge scheduling" ended a couple of years ago.
It is past time UGA came here.
Now playing UGA in 2013, yeah, that was an SEC fix job. But we ended up not being a threat in 2013 anyway.
