Talked to Cameron this weekend... It didn't sound like he was going to sign.

When he was used as a starter, his velocity was in the upper 80's by the 5th inning. Every time he comes in the game, the commentators talk about how much he improved once he was moved to the pen because he could just go in the game and "sling it". Why is everyone hell bent on moving him to the rotation and thinking he's the next Noah Syndergaard?

He's a freshman. Next season you don't think his stamina will be any better? He will be a starter, he wants to be a starter, and he will do what it takes to be the Friday Night guy, because that's what he came here to do

It's not as easy as you are claiming. Some people never develope the stamina to pitch deep into games. Why do you think elite closers are closers and not starters?

Closers are closers because they have 1 pitch that is dominant. If you have more than 1 pitch you can be a starter. I can't do it, I know it's not easy. But he has more than 1 pitch and came here to be a starter and that's what he will give every effort to do.

It takes 3-4 pitches to be a starter. Not 2. Look at Aroldis Chapman, Craig Kimbrel, Ken Giles etc. every one of them has 2 elite pitches and are closers

Having a shutdown closer has immense value at any level. When he comes into a game , he is max effort. He will be a great Friday night starter but dam he is nasty out of the pen. I guess that is why CPM gets paid the big bucks.

Mariano Rivera threw 1 pitch, a cutter, 99.99% of the time.

He wouldn't have been dominant as a starter.
This.

Hess and Rivera are not the same animal.

Don't get caught up in that comparison. Hess has future MLB starting rotation potential.

Matty Ott lived off of a strange arm slot delivery and keeping the ball low in the zone.

The only comparison is that they were both closers at LSU.

On has starter ability. The other was started out of desperation
