Beth recruits well but the difference is Florida and OU continuously have top 3 classes. They usually snatch up the top ten players.
LSU is very talented but the talent level of teams like Florida, OU, UCLA are just at a completely different level. They all have 4 or 5 players on the senior national team.
I do think our recruiting will get better. The success we have had the last three years will really been seen in the 2018 classes and beyond.
The 2018 class is ranked #8 in the country, 2019 is #6, 2020 is #3. This incoming class was #13. Certainly not bad at all,
Sunseri and Antoine are both top 40 players.
The 2018 class has Wickersham and a lot of players that can hit for power, including Georgia Clark, Taylor Tidwell and Morgan Cummins

Professional divas are a real thing. Her talent is huge, and so is her ego. The rumor is absolutely true.

Yeah I can imagine, UCLA, Florida, and OU getting all those Cali girls.
Hate to bring up Lotief again, but if you look at what he does, with who he has, you realize that if a good coach is not just good, but hands on, and his mark is on all the hitters, or those that need it, you can see the results he has.
You can say they choke when facing elite pitchers, but that happens all over. Imagine what ULL would have done last year with an elite pitcher.
Recruiting is extremely important, but what is done with a player upon arrival and leading up to the start of the season is crucial as well.
In the games Monday and Tuesday night, you could see the consistency in batting approach from Oklahoma. You think they all were like that before they got to OU? Doubt it. Its the coaching.
Go through all the bios, and read up on the players from various teams. All those "four time All state selections", when you see them play, its got you scratching your head. What works in high school dont work in college, sometimes, and the coach that has a system, a good one, is going to have a good hitting team.
Pulling for Florida (gasp) Monday and Tuesday, i realized something. I realized that it sure is nice to be rooting for a team where any of these girls in the lineup can get up there and put the ball out. Then when OU would bat, that same possibility came to mind.
It only takes a rise ball high in the zone that is reachable, and Mendes, Aviu, Pendley, Knighten...they will send it out the park.
Florida is the same way. Who'd have imagined Herndon would put Parker out dead centerfield?
Its coaching.... talent is important, so is game time savvy, but a well coached team with talent,,, those kind have a chance to win..and even if a team doesnt have the stats to compare with OU or Fla, if they got a good coach, they have a puncher's chance of winning it all.

I don't care what anyone says, coaching can completely change a player. You look at ULL, James Madisom, and other smaller schools. They take in leftovers essentially but the coaching alllows them to blossom and they have beaten major programs all over the country.
Dobson interacts with his players a lot. I've seen it in person but at this point, he needs to be physically stepping in and going A through Z as you put it with a lot of our girls. With proper instructions given to a talented player they can put up nasty numbers, there have been many examples of it over the years.
I personally thinking a systemic offense is probably the way to go eventually. Very few players need just a few adjustments. But yes, OU does change a lot of the mechanics of their players even though they come out of HS with top notch numbers. I know if it's not broken don't fix it but trying to fix these mechanical issues are ridiculously dangerous to do in the middle of a season, which is why I was never expecting Dobson to make drastic changes,

I definitely don't want Beth gone. She has done great here. Make a few changes and we will be fine.

Agree, one must change/adapt to the next level or die/left behind.

Well I hope Beth fixes that about Carley while keeping the fight in her if it's true.

I can promise you that statement is BS. Hoover is one of the best pitchers in the country. She would be an all American if weren't for the injury.
I couldn't imagine Torina ever making statements like that or threatening to kick off a star pitcher to save her third string pitcher essentially. It's nonsense
Whoever says Hoover and Torina have a bad relationship is lying. They are very close. Hoover is just an emotion player. She's a competitor, that's why she gets aggravated after being pulled and such. She wants to be on the field and she wants to win.

That's how I see it too. I would probably be a bit of a diva or confident too if I was as good as her or SJay. Beth ALWAYS talks good about her. And you can see there is what seems like good rapport when they talk, etc. It does not seem like there is any strife. So I don't know about all that.

It's a damn shame every softball thread gets hi-jacked with someone spouting some crazy things about certain players every damn year. Keep up the good work Bhs and Tigerbait and others that actually give out good info.
Posted on 6/7/17 at 3:44 pm to Tigerbait357
Anyway, how's Gorsuch doing? We will have to rely on her a little more this year without Syd it seems.

Agree, but a lot of what was posted by the psycho in the thread that got whacked yesterday has proven to be true.

Listen, you believe what you want. I know, know what I know. I don't make things up on here. I don't speculate. I didn't see what the statement that's being referenced was, I do know that there was talk about trying to keep Smith & release Carly. I absolutely agree she's AA quality, I also believe Smith is if she was given 1st or 2nd pitcher time.

Its not the transfer info its calling a player "trash" that got it whacked. That story about Hoover and Smith seems a bit out there.
Maribeth probably got some kind of traumatic injury-related PTSD type issues. Thats expected .

This to infinity.
Why people in general think that they need to know everything boggles my mind
We don't need or deserve to know everything about any team or any individual.

The amount of digging into the LSU softball program on a person level exceeds any other LSU sport by far, it's crazy.

So what is the deal with Dawson? Why didnt she play more?
Posted on 6/7/17 at 4:27 pm to paintthecorner
I'm just kinda in shock reading this. So basically Carley is THAT much of a diva, they were really considering kicking her off? I'm just in shock I giess
Posted on 6/7/17 at 4:33 pm to Jennlsu
I'm hoping Gorsuch can get past the mental barrier this off season. She has some really nasty pitches
Posted on 6/7/17 at 4:34 pm to Tigerbait357
I've heard a lot of people say that. She did well against SC. I think she will. She has a whole offseason to get ready!
